Forgive me if this is a bonehead question, but I'm playing the Mac version of BG and have made it to Chapter 6 with a journal entry implying that it's time to head to Baldur's Gate.

However, when I go to the map, it remains "grayed out." Is this a bug or do I need to complete some additional task/errand?

Any help appreciated.

Hiya Dax. Welcome to Ironworks!

Now, to your question. In order to get into Baldur's Gate it's necessary to travel as far north as you can first. Go north from the Friendly Arm Inn to a farm infested with Ankhegs (big green insects if you've never seen 'em). From there travel further north and you should be able to move to an area that looks like a big bridge.

Travel up the bridge and you should arrive at Baldur's Gate itself.

I don't know if this would be different in the Mac version but assuming they're the same this should help.

Good luck!

Yeah...the Bridge is the key to opening up Baulders Gate. ONce you cross it, the city will be made available.

I'm assuming you've already done the whole bit of business with the Bandit Camp? If you haven't, you need to clear out that area first before the gates of Baldur's Gate will even be open to you for entry.

Well, it looks as if I finally asked the right group of people...

Somehow I had missed getting to the farm. However, when I returned to the Bandit camp and headed West, it appeared. Blessings upon you all for your kindly, and sage-like advice. I can now continue my quest as a young Paladin.

Clearing out the Bandit Camp completes Chapter 3.
