Hi there!

I want to start enchanting stuff, for making money, training skill and just-for-the-heck-of-it But now, I really can't enchant ANYTHING, so I'm wondering, what skill do I need to do it? I have Intelligence 103 (boosted, of course), enchanting skill 35 and have the soul of an allit. I try to enchant trousers with the spell "return", but it NEVER works (I tried with reloading, so to see if it works in several tries, but it didn't ). I know this is not much (I'm level 4), but can it really be that you can't even enchant the easiest stuff when you're not really great in those skills? I'd appreciate any help ...

Cheers
Philipp

What message did you get when you tried to enchant? An enchant skill of 35 isn't that much when you try to enchant, even the easy stuff.

1) 35 as a skill blows. you need to train it up by purchasing classes, or by using enchanted weapons ALOT.

2) you're own enchantments rarely work. even using MANY potions and spells to boost your intel and enchant into the thousands, you'll never have better than a 50% chance of success

3) trousers dont have much room for enchantment points... are you sure the spell recall will fit?

4) go steal some valuable stuff and sell it for money. if you need a location to steal from, i can tell you. use the money to purchase enchantments. enchanted items don't gain much value, so you cant make money by enchanting your own items (although selling full soul gems works pretty well).

5) stop worrying about enchanting. you're only level four, and your skills are all weak. just use the weapons you find in game for now. simply go to the towers in balmora. in the top of one of them, resting on top of a big cabinet you will see a sword hilt. save, get the guard to look away and steal the sword. this is the sword of white woe. it will last you until you need enchanted weapons at, oh level 10-14

Thanks, guys!

Well, the spell fits and so, the message is somewhat like "Your spell failed and your sould gem was destroyed!" (well, it's german, but that's mainly it). I know I can easily buy the stuff or find better, it's just that I WANT to enchant my own stuff I'd like to have some certain things for convenience (like something that has a return spell, that comes handy when my magicka's lost), and I'd just like not to have someone else make it, but I want my own

I just thought the the easy stuff could be done now... I'll boost the enchant skill sometime soon, and I know I have enought time, so I'll just wait a bit more for enchantments...

Cheers

Philipp, dont get your hopes up, even with the boost REALLY high, you still arent likely to succeed. i suggest just bribing the dude in the temple of balmora up to 100 and then using him for all of your enchantments for the rest of the game. the only difference between an object you enchant vs one you pay to have enchanted is that you won't lose any soul gems by paying.
