Can someone tell me how to become a Templar?
(I've heard you need to before entering the rapax away camp)

On the subject, how many rapax can I slaughter, and have no worries of the importanta ones being hostile? And who exactly (and where) are these importanta ones?

if you are hoping to become templars, you can kill all except templars.

If you're not a templar, all rapax who are not templars will be hostile to you - kill as many as you want. Templars will be neutral, though won't talk - don't kill them if you want to be a templar. Pretty much kill any and only rapax who tries to kill you and you won't have problems

Has anyone tried doing the away camp first? Am about to give it a go, hope it doesn't spoil the story line...

Yes, I have, and no it didn't. I slogged my way through the away camp right after I went to the temple, which was right after I finished the rest of the T'rang and Umpani quests. The first fight with the craploads of templars and templar knights was a bit hairy, but I made it through. I also found out how to get rid of Rodan and Drazic...take them to Yamir.

So I killed loads and loads of Rapax, including the king, before I set foot in the rift and castle, and they all hated me, and I got some awesome xp. Went into the castle, and Ferro, Surdan, Al-Adryian and stuff all were still friendly.

Another interesting note-I killed Al-Sedexus before I went into the castle, and she's still there for your umm..initiation-and then I went and killed her again. Good for about 100k xp for free.

yes, interesting how you can kill al sedexus twice.

btw, if you have no desire to become templar, does killing those templars that sedexus summoned will yield extra experience points?

Yeah, killing those templars does give you extra xp, but I always either wax her, or paralyze or k.o. her before she gets a chance to do anything.

As far as no desire to be a templar, I haven't yet figgered out how to get to the peak without it, cuz the entrance by Bela is blocked off. I believe that's why the guys to make you a templar stay friendly even though the rest of the rapax hate your guts.
