quote: A great solution for eye-for-an-eye is to cast Holy Water. 1st: you can't take damage from it and even if it does no damage to them it still weakens/takes out their eye-for-an-eye protection while your ranged people are doing some damage to them with weapons. 2nd: in the case of 90% of what you fight down past the Chaos Gate (the one with the rapax statues), they CAN be harmed by the holy water (all demonic, undead, conjured creatures) while you still take no damage from using it.

Good replies all. Jem, I knew I could cast Holy Water (read that little tidbit on this very board), however my Divine spellcaster (Lord) was also a great melee guy so he was up front fighting.
I also know I could have switched to Bishop once I leveled out on spells. My point was that having offensive spells in the endgame wasn't of much use due to enemies casting eye-for-eye and their high magical resistance. I used Summon a lot, but really the best ones you can summon get pounded by what you go up against on the peak. They do make good targets though! After doing a bit of reading on the board and from my experience with my new party I concur: Bishops do rock, but for a different reason. They are not limited quite as much as far as weaponry goes, so I suspect that when I near the end this time the Bishops will be cranking out decent melee damage also. Or I can have them just cast Holy Water like Jem suggests.

you all need a lizard lord and boost his fighting skills up and then slowly build his magic then Rapax or what ever creature comes at him is pretty much DEAD Mine is around 17-18th lvl now and has almost 200 htpt. and rocking but my samuri really, really @$#%s bad. he cant hit he cant shoot he cant even block an attack from the puny creatures and he was built the same way. my samuri sits in the back (i wish i would of made a gad. instead or even a bard would of been better)..... Right now im just killing everything Trang and soon heading to the fort to see how many people will die in 1st death wish spell then i head for other bridge(wherever it goes). Rex would of been better for my group the that samuri !!!! my mage hits better then him and his skill is 9 !!!!!

I finished with rogue, ranger and one of each caster and can say that apart from one or two specific battles, the Away Camp when Rapax are hostile and the Rapax Army on the Peak for example, the game was pretty easy with the need to rest to restore SP being the most tedious part.
The Sorceress Queen battle was a breeze, the Cultists were destroyed by the end of round two by a Psionic and Alchemist while two elementals dealt with the others. Basically what I'm saying is that offensive magic DOESN'T suck as many say, but a single caster or even two bishops in an otherwise melee-biased party are not going to be as effective since they'll be needed to defense most of the time ... in my party the Priest mainly defended with the occasional Instant Death, while the Psionic, Alchemist and Mage used attack spells, mainly AoE, and in that context worked wonderfully well. I don't expect to have such an easy time in Rapax Rift or the Queen with my next party which will only have a single bishop as the main caster.
