Robert the Bard coined this phrase last night when we were on level 10. For those of you who have explored that far, it refers to the section of level 10 between the doorway and the bridge on your way to the main lizard man camp. UNBELIEVABLE!! It's a combat that tests your mettle to the max as you are met by a living sea of lizardmen monks, elite fighters, mages and priests and their summoned monsters - not to mention a group of duergar warriors who spawn in behind you. Definitely not for the feint of heart!

Agreed...That is the best/worst area in the game.

Now we, who have fought valiantly accross that bridge know, beyond the shadow of a doubt that you could have a char who was in on a stomping of Ol' Red, relatively unscathed die 15 times from the door to the island, on that bridge. And if the sea of lizards spiders and other ilk wasn't enough, the tangle weeds are a real drag too, literally on your movement rate. There is no real feasible strategy to this fight, it is melee combat, you and your companions, hopefully, for i have found myself there alone many times. There will be no sneaking accross either, because their spot skill is insanely high. I would rathler fight Thurkul, on lvl 1, naked with a toothpick than to have to fight solo accross that bridge. It has been done, just as red has been beaten by solo char's, but the event is rare, to be sure, with legal chars, and probably far between. This is one of the battles that you remember fondly, and painfully as you rub the bruises the healers can't heal. Not just because it's hard either, but it comes in waves, that start when you try to get in the door, and doesn't stop until you are almost to the door to lvl 11. But getting accross the bridge will always be to the forefront of things you remember about that battle.

Another couple attempted to bring "Red" to justice and failed quite miserably. We managed to bring him down to Badly Wounded a few times but our hopes were dashed by the searing blue light of the cursed yet blessed Heal spell each time.
Curse that dragon. In the end we ran past him to escape...and then the server crashed...as if it was punishing us for cheating.

Yes - it was miserable. Shadowolf - at least you didn't mention my monk's habit of running away in fear. I think we just need a few more levels and we'll be able to finish the job.

been there.
done that. finally accomplished the improbable. yes, and all without having a level 30+ character level nametaker. of course, it helps when you are using weapons which all have +6 or higher on them. another word of advice: never fight all the blasted Lizardmen Elite at the same time. no way. just asking - nay, BEGGING - to be flayed alive and have your skull hung out for scraps on the playground of doom. whom is "Red," might I ask? and are they anywhere close to as bad as the legendary Green of Level 8, or the triumverate of terror a few levels beneath said legendary green dragon?
