i read in one thread by sir degrader about a rocky balboa vs minsc fight, and DS said he would make him a permanant quintession or make him go back to the start of quintession if he misbehaves again. my question is this:
what is a quintession?
Why are they bad?
Why does everybody hate them?
What on earth is a quintesson?

im prety sure i spelt quintession wrong in this post, but im sure you know what im talking about

Ok firstly this shouldn't be in the BG fourm.

Secondly I will answer your question.

Quintession is a Rank Avatar that we have here at Ironworks. It is also the longest rank that we have here (spanning 500 posts)

Some people don't like it. i didn't mind it as its from Transformers and Transformers are cool.

so the only reason people hate it is beacuse its the longest rank. right.

I'm NOT a moderator but i am very certain of some of these answers but like i said i'm not a moderator or any1 of important rank within Ironworks but i was just giving you a view from a different perspective.

A Quintesson is a Rank.

Rank is determined by number posts posted by a person.

I PRESUME that this sed person was a Quintesson at the time thus meaning that if he were to be a permanent Quintesson he can't go to a higher rank. So the question is would you want to stay the same rank forever or would you like to continue getting to higher ranks and looking more god-worthy in the eyes of others.

If the sed person had to return to the start of the rank Quintesson that would mean the sed person would have to post more to get back up to his original position in teh Quintesson rank.

Quintesson's aren't bad it's really the punishment of posts.

IMPORTANT: Delete this if need be.

No, the emerald dragon is the best. Actually, I was curious as to who would win the fight, I mean both a stupid muscular morons with a heart of gold. Anyway, this rank seems to last forever. I recommend you delete your account when you hit 999 posts, then restart.

Your avatar (the picture under your name) changes depending on how many posts you have. For example, timothytrotter went from being a Dungeon Master to a Magister when he made 99 posts.

Some people used to make posts just to increase their post count and get a newer avatar. To crack down on this, the mods decided that correctional behavior can be administered effectively through your avatar. For example, if you make 52 random posts because you're 52 posts away from being Lord Soth and a moderator catches you, your post count could be set so far back that you could never reach Lord Soth, even if you posted every day for a year.

And then there's me, who really looked forward to being the pretty Emerald Dragon for 500 posts and got...the Quintesson.

Like a lot of IW avatars, the Quintessons are from the Transformers cartoon series. They're a race of harsh lawgivers. But that's not why I don't like it. The Quintesson is big and ugly. There are several nice Quintesson screen caps out there. Why we get the big purple egg is beyond me. (This may also be a personal thing, but I don't like having an avatar that's bigger than my average post.)

I don't post a lot, and it took a while to get 1000 posts, let alone the 1300-1500 necessary to be an Red Dragon. (It used to be that 1000-1500 was Emerald Dragon, but something happened and Ziroc made a new avatar for 1000-1300 posts and bumped Emerald Dragon back to 900-1000.)

It's the little things. It's a pleasure and privilege to post at Ironworks. I just wish I didn't have to be so ugly.

(PS: Other than my civilly disobedient signature, this is the most I've said on the topic since I made rank. I'm amazed.)

what i don't understand, is why after the long term with quinty, you get rewarded with 3 lil stars as your avatar.

it'd be much more fun if you got a belly dancer or a jumping frog or sumpin' silly for a few posts.
