You're going to get some different (read: disagreeing with you) views on both of those comments (unless certain people aren't reading this thread). The gist of the objection is that the shapeshifter's progression plateaus and goes nowhere after that, while most of the other classes gain abilities to deal with increasingly difficult enemies.

I see your point, but shapeshifters can hold their own as spellcasters as well as kicking ass in greater werewolf form. And how could anyone not like Cernd?

Sure, there is a personality to suit just about everyone's likes. BG is a bit like, gulp, Friends that way.

Let us know how your shapeshifter is doing later on in the game. [Again, ]

When i chose ShapeShifter, i've not finded Cernd before. And when you have never seen a Werewolf before, this class is very attractive. =)

If there's one thing I've learned about this game, it's that there aren't any sucky NPC's, as they all have their strengths and weaknesses. All NPCs are good, in their own way. All NPCs have a different value to different players, because we all have our own individual style that we play this game.

Jester is a joke class, and it's probably one of the least powerful. But I read on another forum that somebody solo'd one through the whole game with minimun DEX and CHA scores, and 9's in each other stat. ANY class can be used in this game, and ANY NPC can be used to beat the game.

My personal style is to use tanks. I like melee guys, and I always use the good NPCs that were with me in BGI (Minsc, Jaheira and Imoen). This means that I usually play some kind of warrior or warrior multiclass, and add in another NPC that helps round out the group. I'm currently playing a paladin and have Aerie as my romance in the party. I'll add "S" in ToB.

Although I love melee types, I've also played with a Sorcerer, and he was arguably my most powerful Protagonist.
