He probably has to wear ear protection while using his system...either that or turn the volume WAAAY up.

Yeah...I keep the earphones on. Funny thing is, I removed two fans today because the video card fan is screwed up and I left the panel off so that the card would not get too hot, and that panel has a fan on it...so I am running with two less fans, but the loudness of the fans still in operation is no different than when all are running.

Actually, my case is surprisingly silent. Just shows you how some airflow design and good manufacturing goes a long way
And the comment about the oiling, I have heard that in most cases when a fan obviously needs to be oiled, it obviously needs to be replaced.

Oiling doesn't help modern "disposable" fans, I doubt you'll even be able to find a spot to effectively oil an el-cheapo sleeve bearing type fan.

It might be worth oiling a ball bearing type (ie, premium aftermarket) fan if you can find a lube hole, probably under a sticker somewhere.

^what you wrote sounds quite funny when you read it with the other meaning of 'fan' in mind.
