Let me clarify that.

Is there a saving throw allowed with Trap the Soul?

None whatsoever, and Magic Resistance is ignored as well.

The only defenses against it are 1) Out-&-out immunity, 2) Some method of blocking spells cast directly at you, or 3) Killing him in less than 6 seconds.

I've often wondered, but been a little afraid to find out... do any of the following prevent Imprisonment (granted some may be useless vs. Kangaxx who throws multiples, but in general)?

- Spell Trap (spell or SoM version)
- Spell Deflection (regular or Minor)
- Cloak of Cheese (I'd assume not, but never actually tried it)

FWIW, in the vast majority of the games I play, Ribald's 2 Protection from Magic scrolls are saved for 1) Kangaxx & 2) the Watcher's Keep (Throne of Bhaal) Demi-Lich.

Both spell trap and spell deflection will work [img]smile.gif[/img]
Spell trap will absorb 4 Imprisonments ( or trap the souls ) and spell deflection 1

Prot from Undead renders you invisible for those creatures. That means that Kangaxx the lich cannot innitiate dialog with you and thus cannot turn to demi-lich. So you cannot kill him.

Spell Immunity can be found in Spider Nest in the lower tombs, it is sold in Trademeet and in Ust Natha, Lazarus in Saradush sells it, too.

limited wish is v. good here - chose protection from undead (you need a high wisdom)

this is how to beet kangaxx (if you don't mind being cheesy):
1)cas wizard eye and send it to the crypt, cast some high level summoning spels (aerial servant)

2) the first form is easy, but if you have troubles, use yoshimo to place traps on the place where he appears

3) now the demi lich appers, but you have sent there the wizard eye (can't be imprisoned), the demi lich always tries to imprison the nearest target

4) now it would be good if you had ring of ram - you can use it to throw demilich to distance and deal some demage (should be injured now) then send the wizard eye as close as possible to the demilich

5) now send your creaturs to do the job for you (you can use someone with holy avenger aswell)

level 7 priest spell Spell shield can work instead of wizard eye or you can use spell imunity, then you would send the guy with the shield or iminity towards the lich instead of wizard eye

That's negative plane protection, not protection from undead. (A level-draining demi-lich? Why not?)

What level of spell is Trap the Soul?

Has anyone ever tried a 10th level spell against Mr. Demi-Lich, since he's only immune to levels 1-9? (Say hello to Dragon's Breath, Kangaxx!)

it's kinda unfair using tob spells against soa creatures, for me it's like cheating
