I couldn't help myself. I figured it would be a good idea if everyone shared some solutions to their monster troubles. Here's two I can deal with.

Red's guide to Ruby destruction.

This is for FF7 so skip if you don't know what that stands for.

First make sure Cloud is equipped with a ribbon, a Mystile, his Ultima Weapon, Doublecut, (With Quadcut available) Shield, Fullcure, Enemy Skill, (With Magic Hammer) and Time Materia, Knights of the Round, Mime, W-Magic, W-Summon, and Final Attack->Life. (Master Magic works just fine for everything except final attack.) Okay make sure Cloud is the the last one standing. Just start over if Ruby decides to get rid of him.

Now cast Time, and Shield on yourself. Shield protects you from Ruby Flame, Big Swing, and his annoying as h*ll tentacles. When you get hit by one of the above, immeadiately cast fullcure, and then shield. Use doublecut on the tentacles. 2 should get rid of them for awhile. After they're gone, help yourself to all of Ruby's mp. When he's out you'll see the message Ruby's Skill Power is used up. Getting rid of his MP, turns the tide of the battle. No more Ultima, Shadow Flare, Ruby Flame, or Comet 2 for him. Now make sure his tentacles are down, and W-Summon the knights. Mime it over and over regardless of what happens. If you die, you'll get right back up and can start over. (Well not really, but you get the idea.) Red FF7 master has spoken...

As for Illithids in BG2 have a fighter with decent AC and two handed profiency, gulp down some potions of genius. Get intelligence to 25 if you want it. Just make sure it's at least 20. Now give him an arbanes sword, and Equalizer. (If you have it.) The arbanes sword's free action makes you immune to stun, and the equalizer makes you immune to charm. (I believe there is a potion or another sword with the same effect.) Now you'll chop those illithids up easy, and it takes five of their hits to kill you. If you get low on intelligence wait awhile for it to go back up again, or gulp down another potion of genius. Easy right?

Now the lag monster that's one i'd like to beat. Fighting Firkraag, 20 hp left, and starting to cast greater restoration. (Yeah fighters can cast that spell from a scroll!) Hey why'd everbody stop moving??? Firkraag critical hit! David Death....
Same for Diablo, what's this blackwall in front of me??? D*mmit! You have been slain by hell bovine. You have lost 65,000 gold. You have lost experience. *Sigh*

Um, what game are you talking about???

In whatever game I play, I prefer first revving up my protective spells, then using my heavy duty, personally-targeted stuff, and then whack like hell with whatever nicely-bladed object I might have.

Works for me.

Redblueflare is talking about FF7 and the best way to deal with my scariest monster is to turn on the lights, because then he goes back under my bed.

My favourite way to deal with Illithids: Have my fighter/assassin backstab one, turn invisible by means of a ring or potion, backstab another, run away with boots of speed to hide in shadows, backstab a third...

Weell first, I will state what my favourite monster is: The Brigand Leader in Quest for Glory I (aka. Hero Quest)

QFG1 SPOILER BELOW

Once you get through Yorricks maze (not easy!!), go through the door at the top left, and ur in the Brigand Leaders office. Then throw on him the Dispel Potion you had the healer make for you (remember it ?? Components were: A magic Acorn, Fairy Dust, Green Fur, Flying Water, and Flowers from Eranas Piece)... the Brigand Leader will turn into the Barrons missing Daughter Elsa Von Spielburg
