UK prof pioneers new LCD screen system

Quote:
A Cambridge UK academic has come up with a completely new flat TV concept that relies on total internal reflection in a wedge shaped piece of clear plastic, fed by the same LCD video projectors that drive rear-projection televisions. The technique promises to cost about a fiftieth of the price of current plasma screens and yet deliver a similar quality picture.

Bugger - I just went and bought me the big Plasma screen so I really don't want to find out how much I could have saved .

Oh well, I have never used the "wait till it's cheaper" philosophy. If I want something I buy it now - I could not and would not wait till 2007.

If you do that then there will be something new out, and you will just start over procrastinating again, you may aswell buy it when you can and make good use. That is my theory anyways.

I should add that my backgound is Scottish but over west from you (Inverness). When I was over there one time we had an Aberdonian marry into the family, and I couldn't understand a word he said. I had been farly well exposed to how the Scots speak to one another and the accent and all, but it was my first encounter with an Aberdonian .

I have met Mouse a couple of times, and I know I can understand him - well, except when he has had 9 double scotch's - then he speaks the purest form of gibberish I have ever heard .

Well, talking of the Scottish accent, have you ever heard a German say Doric phrases? Fit like? Foos yer doos? etc. etc.

It is worth a laugh
