Hello all!

I have a problem described in the Subject field.

I have Athlon 1600+, Riva TNT2 32 Mb, 256 Mb RAM, HDD 20 Mb (15 free),

game running pretty well w/o shadows, meduum view distance.

but mouse...... it is rather slow and just fly over buttons by inertion, so it is hard to click

anybody had this problem?

P.P.S. oops, forgot one thing: in the start menu and ingame menu it is slow too!

thanks!

P.S. very nice game at the first look. If it will be as much interesting as Daggerfall!!!!!!!!! that would be cool

Go to your control panel and adjust the mouse to be "LESS SENSITIVE. Also, turn off your mouse trails, etc.

It'll improve, but it won't be perfect...

if you don't know how to do it..

...right click an open area on your desktop
...Properties
...Settings Tab
...Advanced (lower right)
...Performance Tab
...See a slider for Graphics Hardware Acceleration?
...its turned up all the way
...slide it a notch to the left
...it should then say "Use this setting to correct problems with your mouse"......

click Apply (or OK) repeatedly until you close everything down.
go into the game and see how it's affected.
you can lower it again if if doesn't help.

so, now if that doesn't work. its more than likely a video/sound conflict.

you can turn off your Hardware Acceleration all the way (or one notch up from all the way).

to do this:

...Start
...Run
...type in: DXDIAG
...click OK
...when it opens, click "Sound" tab
...in the lower left is Hardware Acceleration Slider
...turn it off completely
...click Exit

you will want to turn it back on for other games, just remember to turn it off for Morrowind.

have fun!
play hard!

heres the main thing i've noticed, what resolution do you have the game set at. if you have it at 1600x1200 or something close themouse is going to move really slowly. and in your attempts to get it where you want it you will move it further than you wanted. this is caused by the screen now being "bigger" and the cursor having to move farther to get where its going.

~~slacker~~

just to add a comment to your observation... players should have the game set to whatever their desktop resolution is. but the desktop needs to be set at 32 bit, no matter what other size is used.

otherwise, like you say, if ya run the desktop at 800x600x32 and the game at 1600x1200x32 you will see, not only problems with a mouse, but other things as well.

Hello all!

So you all say I should set windows desktop to the exact resolution/color the game is going to run with?

Yes? Is this right?

By the way, I did not managed to correct mouse behavior using the methods you suggested! It is possible to play with such a mouse, but a bit annoying....

Well, one more fact: my mouse is connected to com port. Maybe I should use another mouse on ps/2 or even usb port? Can this be a problem?

heya!

have you gotten your drivers updated for your mouse? this game requires that you use the most recent drivers for everything else, so may as well get good mouse drivers too.

com port shouldn't make a difference. but if you have another kind, say USB, lying around, give it a try. sometimes the problem is just the device itself!!

yes, desktop and game rez should be all exactly the same.

did you by any chance use your in-game options for adjusting your mouse? give it a go. ya never know.

let us know. meantime i will do some more research for you.

good mouse drivers? hm, never installed a mouse driver (except for a dos).

Windows always have some.....

Tonight I'll try to use USB mouse from the jobplace.

Also in several days I'm going to install W2K Workstation if nothing change.... Maybe this will change some.....
But W2K eats so many memory...

Yes I did changed mouse sensitivity ingame - nothinghappend except wild head rotation Mouse was still inertial and I missed buttons.

You know, I started getting some errant behavior from the newest Logitech drivers. I use trackballs as my own preferred way to control the mouse pointer. But on an intermittent basis, for some system startups of the game PC, the pointer slows down to a tenth or twentieth part of its normal motion for a given amount of trackball spinning. So far, the only cure is a reboot when it happens. I blame this behavior on quirks left inside of Windows by Microsoft!
