A'ight, I'm sure this is back there somewhere but the search engine generally dosen't like my computer and I'm too lazy to manually sift.

I follow Saemon out of the asylum and secure the sea-gate horn from Desharik's woman. At night I hand off the horn, get onto the ship, kill the pirates. Get waylaid by Githyanki, rumbing ship, Sahaugin run onboard...

CRASH!!!

Apparently my computer dosen't like my choices. I tried cleaning off my CD to no avail, so I'm wondering if it'll help if I just take the portal under the asylum. Only problem...

I HAVE NO FLIPPING CLUE HOW TO OPEN THE DOOR IN FRONT OF THE PORTAL

It seems that I can't break it, bash it, pick it, or find a key for it... So my question is, what opens that door? Or what should I potentially try to keep my computer from flipping out?

This just a long shot but it is worth a try and has worked for me. It will hopefully address the crashing issue. Sometimes, my computer really dislikes a single player save and will crash every time I move from that area (i.e. Umar Hills). I am talking about 10 times in a row.

I copied my save game from save to mpsave and load the game as Multiplayer. Leave the area and load new area, save game, copy back and run as single player.

It is always worth a try but no gaurantees.

How did you get in to the asylum, If you pretended you were crazy and got admitted then you cannot open the door to the portal(the key is in Irenicus's quarters near the entrance of the asylum, and the door leading there is locked.

If you used the wardstone then you enter though the entrance so the door isn't locked and you can get the key to the portal(when you are leaving the asylum that is) well I hope that makes sense.

This worked 4 me as well
