As I never tire of telling people ( ), I've never bothered finishing the main quest, or even getting a fair way through it, in about a year of playing.

I haven't finished it either, but I have been spoiled beyond repair long time ago so I'm not really in a hurry to finish it.

Edit: Typos.

I finished it with the first character i ever made and didn't play the game again for about 4 months. Don't let the devs rule you, man. Play it the way you want to...

*Edit: Itallics...

All this talk about new characters have gotten me interrested in playing Morrowind again. And maybe this time finish the MQ.

Anyway, my new character:

Class: Custom
Race: Dunmer
Gender: Male
Birthsign: The Serpent - I know, the worst sign but I like the idea of it; the outcast among starsigns. The most blessed and most cursed according to some in-game book.

Major:
*Longblade - Goldbrand is fun with Dunmers.
*Unarmored - I use Aragorn Monk mod and some dodging mod, so I shouldn't have any problem. Besides, I'm a routined player.
*Mysticism - My favourite spellschool.
*Restoration - Handy for day-to-day healing. Alchemy works well but requires finding ingredients.
*Alteration - Useful spells.

Minor:
*Marksman - Always useful.
*Alchemy - Mixing potions is fun. It might seem overkill to both Restoration and Alteration in addition to Alchemy, but who cares.
*Sneak - Sneaking around is fun.
*Acrobatics - I don't remember why I picked this one really. Some form of roleplaying reason, I suppose.
*Speechcraft - My character should be a smooth talker as well as lightning quick swordsman.

Same. Though i've kinda run out of play ideas for new characters. There's still whole chapters yet discovered in Urival's career. Might have one last bash before Oblivion gets here. I guess thanks are due to NobleNick for a little inspiration.

*Edit: Link to Urival's story for those who may be interested.

IMO, Morrowind doesn't hold any long term interest for powergaming. Well, not for someone over 12 anyway. Before long, especially with a character like this, you'll probably find that nothing poses much of a threat to you. But you'll be the judge of that.

The Orcish armour is none too shabby and, of the premium type armours, it's always the first to be found (unless you know where to look ).

Sever's suggestion was for a male character, I presume. Are there any niches where a female character would be a better choice? (Like I said, I am not beyond a re-roll.)
Gender is strictly for roleplaying purposes. There's no difference between male and female.

The bow skills *are* nice, Sever! This guy has been practicing a bit on the local critters. (I don't think my Nord ever killed ANYTHING with his bow!) QUESTION: You mentioned that stealth improves bow damage. Is this automatic; or is there something special I should be doing?
If you hit a creature with a ranged weapon whilst successfully sneaking, you'll pull off a critical hit. Double Damage.

So, after I get this character to CC in Balmora (see, I finally got the town name right!), which guild(s) would you suggest I join?
If you've been reading the FAQs, you've probably already been informed of The Morag Tong, the Assassin's Guild. It's suitable for good and evil type characters and is a career choice this character should excell at. They've some nice short blades too. Have a look around in the Arena Canton Waistworks...

Meh, I created a new character since I've played so many characters that look like the one I posted above. The new one is based on the Bard custom class but with a few small modifications.

Major:
*Long Blade
*Speechcraft
*Alchemy
*Acrobatics
*Block

Minor:
*Marksman - switched from Mercantile
*Sneak - switched from Security
*Light Armor - switched from Medium Armor.
*Illusion
*Enchant

All else the same. I gonna roleplay this character a bit more, using Enchant much more than I've done before and come up with fancy names for my custom spells. I'm also gonna carry a lute with me at all times.

I've just reached Balmora after exploring Seyda Neen and Pelagiad, and with a decent amount of money I got from selling items I, uh, "aquired" at Fort Pelagiad.
