i guess any thread about new party compositions will wander a bit, and i suppose if i'm not helping i shouldnt be distracting, but...

critical striking is nice, but weapons offer more/better bonuses for any class. you have to take advantage of spellcasting to compensate for the slower levelling to make hybrids worth it.

i find that the monk and lord/valk are the easiest hybrids to develop strong spellcasting with. they can each focus on just 2 or 3 realms (eg mental/fire/air for monk, water/div/earth for lord/valk) and quickly become very effective. and of those, the spell book and at least 1 realm will grow very quickly due to utility casting (monk: mental with identify, lord/valk: divine with healing).

the ranger/ninja needs are really across 4 realms, but spellbook learning is easier because of mixing and the fact that you'll usually develop dex for these classes. still, that makes them a little more difficult than monk/lord/valk.

to develop a samurai in particular requires a great deal more attention to spell casting since they have skill needs in all 6 realms.

i've yet to build a samurai i'm completely happy with.

yeah they are hard to develop but are helpful if you can get it. they also have awsome weapons made for them as well as armour. they do have that as an addvantage.

ok, my suggestion for you is,

rouge
fighter
valkerie
bard (female)
priest
psionic

i would personally suggest beating the game once with this party and see how you do. after that, try throwing in a bishop, a samuari, a ninja, a ranger or anything that you have in mind. dont try too hard with hybrids until you KNOW you can beat the game. GOOD LUCK!

Gotta say, take an Alchemist instead of the Psionic. Bard covers Haste, Alchemist makes megabux. And wears more armor.

well you should cover divinity. if you want, you can have the fighter be a lord or valkerie. divinity is a very important book but if you want a challange thats perfectly ok. the bard picks up some healing instruments later.

WHOO HOO! MY 100TH POST! THANKS IW!
