Whether to make any of the levels more or less difficult needs to be balanced with where the planned mid-level teleporter goes.

As it stands, level 6 - the sewer - is a good candidate for a teleporter. It's fairly empty and would be a good staging post - though a few more challenges there would do no harm.

If we can jump near to level 8 then I'm not sure it needs to be made less difficult. It is hard but then the lizardfolk and army fighters on level 10 and the desert people on level 11 are no easy matter.

Better to understand that things are getting much harder as you move deeper. Level 8 is a wake up call.

Perhaps some improved weapons and armour in the level 8 shop would help rather than making that level weaker.

Sure, 7 should be added to, that would be good. I love questing with the right level of character. And I agree with Greything, level 8 does work well as it is; hard, but hell yeah, wake up and smell the coffee, EFU is not a tea-party for a bunch of grannies!

In a well-mixed party and with the right equipment level 8 is manageable. With a psychotic and well-armed character, who won't take any kind of crap from anyone, it's a rollercoaster ride of joy.

Yeah, level 8 is a wake up call, and a lesson in humility too. Unless you're me, and bored, and just go there to whip them with my level 40 archers, or bards, or...Well, you get the idea.

And I love level 8. If it had a portal (other than the one to 15) it would be one of my favourite destinations. I test my builds there:
level 15 and holding my own = good
level 30 and getting whupped = stop soloing
level 40 and getting whupped = what the hell was I thinking with this char. build
level 15 and winning with one hand tied behind my back = I'm dreaming about EFU (again)

And to add a quick note re. Moz's question of builds from http://www.ironworksforum.com/forum/...ad.php?t=98557
as RTB mentioned, these builds are often theoretical and, more pertinently, were not designed for EFU. We play in a high magic world with big-hitting bosses and the bulk of these epic builds would struggle, even at 40th level, with the guys in level 8, especially the Beast of Malar.

for toot033:
http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...8;t=001105;p=1

that was the series of quest/expansion recommendations and requests created by those on the forum itself. dredge what you need from there in terms of suggestions you wish to put forth once more. as well, if we do semi-resurrect that thread, we ought to place more emphasis on how it connects to what is already existing within the levels than I know I did personally.
