If a lot of people in the west are wondering just where Bush is going to stop, you can bet that most Muslim countries are thinking the same thing. To us it's war, to them it's Jihad, holy war. A big difference.

I'm not quite sure what Rumsfeld has been smoking lately, but c'mon man...did you honestly believe that nobody was going to provide Saddam with aid?

With the gift of suicide bombers, supplies from Syria and elsewhere and US reinforcements at least a week away the situation does look a little on the grim side. I think all it would take, is one minor slip up, and we'll be on the verge of a semi-world war.

Yes, I agree, the muslims look upon it as another Jihad. About 1000 AD, When the turks conquered Israel, they didn't harm the jews or persecute them, but just highered prices on some things, like entering the country. Then Angry christians from Europe come back to their countries making up stories of how the turks are brutal and such. then the pope hears of it, speaks to various leaders of countries and has them go reclaim the holy lands. When they get there, they slaughter thousands of muslims.

Sorry for the rant, but the muslims are justified in feeling defensive. Thats why they hate christians and jews.

Osamam did participate with the Mujahadeen, and the US supported the Mujahadeen against the Soviets, but that wasn't the question I was answering and had nothing to do with it. The question was why it was ok for the US to support the Afghans against the Soviets, but not ok for Syria to support Iraq now against the coalition. My answer was perfectly correct. Whether or not that support was or is considered "ok" depends on which side you supported.
