Hmmm...I had a bit of time to think on the races on Paradisia this morning, and here is a more detailed explanation.
The initial colonists, and therefore most of the population is human, but later on other races arrived and either got assimilated into the already existing human populations (creating mixtures, which got diluted over time and only have a few traits of non-human in them) or they started living in their own settlements. Three races created their own settlements, these three races being the elves, the dwarves and the little folk (think of them as hobbits although there are some differences). These settlements, along with the human cities and villages shall be marked on the map that I am working on and hope to get done in a few days time. |

I'm currently in class so I'll have to talk to you later about the races. About a start date: there are at least two more people who are interested who if they decide on playing need to get their characters done (DrowArchMage here in thread and one more in PM). Besides more people might still sign up.
I'd tentatively say a starting date around the weekend. |

Machaon Age: 23 Human Alchemist Machaon loves plants. His perpetually dirt-stained fingers only stop fidgeting with flora long enough for him to sketch a picture of his newest discovery in the hefty log book he carries in a large backpack along with various bottles, potions, and alchemical equipment. His belt pouches are stuffed with small jars of mysterious mixtures and salves, his belt rigged with little straps to hold a variety of potions. He has dreamed for years of venturing into the unknown wilds of the distant lands, and could barely focus during the long lectures he attended at his city's university as he imagined his name attached to the discoveries of dozens of new plants. His studies paid off however, and he can identify most conventional plants and mix them to create a variety of useful potions, salves, and restoratives. Not surprisingly, Machaon's appearance suffers for his devotion to the natural world. His brown hair is short and shoots out at all angles, the result of trimming it with the same knife that he uses to collect plant samples. His skin tone alternates between burned, tanned, and slightly pale, depending on the season. He stands at 5 feet 7, and his shoulders are surprisingly broad from carrying his heavy pack, yet his scrawny arms, legs, and chest constantly appear to be on the verge of shooting off his body as he scrambles to the ground to investigate some bit of green. His fingers are as nimble as those of a scholar and artist from keeping a running journal of his discoveries. Socially conscious is a phrase that has never been used to describe him. Aside from his alchemical equipment he carries a thick staff to help move through heavy underbrush and ward away dangerous creatures. He wears a simple scholar's robe, stained from many days spent in the wild. He is adept at reading and writing a handful of languages, although he has spoken fluency in only the common tongue of the land. |

Anon Amalon
Age:Unknown Half-Elf warrier Anon was raised from birth with humans on another island but now lives in Paradisia.Even though he is only a half elf, Anon dosn't age the same as we do, making it almost impossible to tell his real age, his body looks a mere twenty, but his eyes tell a different story. Anon fights with skill beyond that of a normal human. His eyesight is that of an elf, as is his hearing. His ears are semi-pointed and his eyes are almond shaped with a deep green color to them. His hair is blonde like an elfs except that his muscular build is different. He is huge,at almost six foot tall he can lift almost 200 pounds. His favorite weapon is the greatsword he carries on his back.It is covered in high elvish runes. He has a jade ring allows him to make his blade turn into an element with a command(the inscriptions are there to recive the magic). There is, however, a ring that was given to him by a mage ten years ago that hasnt had a use yet,its made of black marble. He speaks orc, but not very well. All elvish, and common tongue. He has been trying to learn an old language used by dragons but hasn't been very succesful. His armor,is of dwarven make, and was given to him by a dwarf lord many years ago for saving some of his kin from an unexpected raid on their caravan. The metal itself is almost as strong as mithril and is inscribed with an old elvish rune meaning warrier as a sign of friendship. Anon used to spend most of his time hunting and killing orcs and goblins. He promised to do so for one hundred years after the dwarf lord gave him his armor. He has actually gotten very good at it.He can sometimes thinks he can smell the rudy beasts when he's in the woods.Though it's never been proven, yet. His best friend, a dwarf, refused to come across the sea with him, often told him that he was getting paranoid and needed some time off.Hopefully this was the vacation he needed and could get back to his friends soon. DrowArchmage: In Tolkienesque settings and I think even in FR, elves already see quite well in the dark, so you wouldn't need the onyx ring at all. About the jade ring: as I said magic is mostly under the form of enchantments, so I would prefer if the jade rings effect was already included in the greatsword instead, and possibly activated by a word of command.
Drow don't exist in this setting, neither do shadow dragons (normal dragons do), so you couldn't be learning their languages. The language of orcs and goblins is the same so you can make those two one, even though it would be a very rare occurence for someone to learn the language, since there is no known use for it on Paradisia (no orcs or goblins have yet been seen there). |
