I got it on saturday, watched it and I found it great. Especially liked the making of gollum documentaries on the extras disc.

Well I also love the books, but the films are just so awesome I can't help but like them... in fact I love them, one of the greatest movies ever made. Some of the changes are a bit annoying but just remember it would have been impossible to film the books like they are.

I really agree with most of this. The problem with TTT as it was originally released is that it covers so many characters it was always going to have to skimp on some of them. As Jackson has to spend so much time on Aragorn later, and Frodo would be a hard character to gloos over, the other characters felt the pinch somewhat I think. Faramir, Merry, Pippin, Treebeard, Gimli, Legolas, and even Boromir benefit a hell of a lot from some extended scenes.

This may have cost me almost £30 but its well worth it!

The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers Easter Egg

On New Line Home Entertainment’s Extended Edition release of 'The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers' the studio has once again hidden some additional material that is definitely worth checking out.

Insert the first DVD from the box set – the one containing the first half of the movie. From the Main Menu go to the 'Select A Scene' submenu where you proceed to go to the last page of these scene selections. Now highlight the 'Of Herbs And Stewed Rabbit' menu entry and press the 'Down' arrow key on your remote control. The One Ring will appear on the screen now and if you press 'Enter' you will see some footage of Peter Jackson congratulating you to finding this Easter Egg, followed by the clip from the MTV Movie Awards featuring Gollum’s hilarious acceptance speech for 'Best Virtual Performance.'

This exciting feature has been submitted to us by Adam Bernström.

Saw it! Thought it was totally funny and cool!

I think that this entire trilogy will go down in HISTORY as THE best set of movies ever produced. I'm talking LEGENDARY, like 'the 10 commandments'.

The actor that was in the 'Gimp suit' really made gollum what he was on screen, he was awesome as well! (and funny) "That is MY spit on screen!"

All credits to Andy Serkis and the animation team for creating Gollum. I'm going to look for that easter egg today.

I agree. Andy was robbed not getting a best supporting actor Oscar nominiation last year. If he is as good again this year I hope they correct that mistake.

</font>[/QUOTE]Just saw it, and i can say I was totally unexpectant as to what came out of it. I think it was good though.

Two thumbs up again for Andy Serkis just for supporting everything he had to go through to make the character of Smeagol/Gollum what it became.

Believe me, you're not the only person who dislikes them. Try hitting some of the Tolkien google groups. There you'll find such bile, spite and poisonous hate towards Jackson's trilogy that defies description. The Tolkien 'purists' resident there have criticised *every* aspect of the films that detracts from the book - every single one - and occasionally criticised the films for getting some things right, but therefore graphically showed how implausible those things were in the book. Sometimes they'll even find criticisms that aren't actually even true, even obviously not true.

These places aren't like Ironworks - they're unmodded boards, where 'debate' is conducted on every level. Intellectual, psychological, political - you'll be challeged to prove your point of view is right, and smeared with as much nitpicking and derision as possible to make you appear wrong before you've even replied. These aren't nice places for either fans of the films who haven't read the book, who are considered ignorant, stupid and moronic, or fans of the book who liked the films, who are considered... well, stupid, moronic and heretical.

Trying - like I did - to suggest that the book itself is flawed and occasionally lacking is really asking for trouble(hate e-mail). Seriously, man, don't let the book get in the way of enjoying the film. Don't stand with the madmen I describe. Both book and film exist for one purpose - to entertain.

EDIT: I don't think the Easter Egg is on UK versions of TTT-EX. Just like the UK FOTR-EX didn't have the MTV parody Easter Egg.

Quick question about the FotR Extended Edition, where is the easter egg in this? I own this one but have never seen the above mentioned addition. Thanks in advance for any help.
