know how you feel CB
I almost lost my group the Highlanders while exploring at my first time.
yes to sageridder's suggestion and perhaps increase your characters levels up a bit before going to the cementary...

Er...I got a wee bit frustrated last night and deleted the characters and created new ones...lost tons of inventory before I caught on that I could add dead bodies to my party and take the stuff! LOL

W & W may drive me crazy...er crazier? LOL

Hey Cloudy !!!

Glad to see you are playin the game....

yup, the interface can be confusing.

Everyone here thinks I'm playin a solo character cuz I'm a brave, heroic type. In reality, I just can't figure out how to control 6 characters!

Keep trying, soon you'll be dreaming about the game...

The game hates me! It does, I know it does! It plots to confuse me...I can see it! HEHEHE...says W &W, "not used to the first person view, little girl?, well...come on in...ooops you are lost, hehehe...oops, those are nasty killer redhatted skeletons with bad attitudes...ooops you are dead..hehehe..."

It's vicious, RudeDawg! Utterly without conscience! Won't let me re-start, misses when I swing/cast at things...sniffle...what's a poor girl to do?! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH...

Um, ok, tantrum over...for now! I keep starting in hopes of getting the hang of moving/seeing things...but whoa! It's hard! LOL I can whup Bone guards in IWD and DRAGONS in BG2!!! But a few measly bats and skeletons give me grief in W & W! sigh.....

nah it doesn't hate you (yet) just you wait until you get further into the game and this redhatted boneguy would look puny in comparsion...

sure is different switching from bird's eye point of view to landbound point of view doesn't it? such as being in control of yourself instead of controlling your characters....

I would suggest, when things get really bad, that you check out this forum's Best Tips thread

Cloudy -

Please get your experience levels up before attempting the crypt. Kill all the worgurs, bats, ratlings, and raiders/rogues in the surrounding area of Valeia. At your level you should also be able kill those rogues hangin' out in the ruins (the one that gives you T'harks lockpicks)

Also, the reason your spells "work sometimes" is probably because you've run out of mana points! At early levels, you can only fire off a burn spell 2-3 times at the most - then you have to run away or backwards until you automatically replenish your mana points-or you can sit and wait it out. Your mana bar and your health bar will fill back up gradually. (Later on, you will find mana potions to use)

Tell us about your party? Do you have any long distance fighters? A bow and arrow? Throwing knifes?

You might find it easier to use the arrow keys on your number pad to move around the countryside.....you know- the 8, 4, 6, 2 keys. I find this game most of the time requires BOTH hands - one on the arrow keys, one hand on the mouse...

Hope this helps some )

Keep us posted!

ROTFLMAO !!!

I know how you feel.

I finished BG2 playin a tiny god My archer had NO FEAR. It took 5 minutes to kill the Black Dragon in the Elven city. I conquered the Nine Hells without braking a sweat, and didn't need to reload once from the UnderDark on...

Here, I feel like a total newbie... My little ranger used to run from the animals in the game, and I had a hard time even hitting a fly... (seriously, I did)

Much more gooder now, I'm doing pretty good, I think. Keep with it, you'll get the feel for the controls. Just takes time...

Fight on, Cloudy !!!!

Cloudy, literally, you will be a "force to be reckoned with" by the time you get past Brimloch Roon, the 3rd town. Right now, your characters are unseasoned newbies, and you've got to bring them up to snuff. In BG2 you start out at 7th level or something like that...not here! This starts you at ground "zero".

On the multiple character interface, basically, everyone gets a turn in a round, and the game automatically jumps to whoever character's turn it is. Watch to see who's portrait comes up so you'll know what action to take. Generally, it goes top to bottom (the first character goes first, then the second, etc.), but it may jump around a bit depending on their speed ratings (faster characters can "jump in" ahead of slower ones). If you want to have a particular character go first, click on their picture on the right, and they'll pop up. To skip a character's turn, hit the Spacebar (but it will come back to that character).

Do use the "Inn Gold Bug" to get some extra gold for your characters and get them some better equipment at the get-go. If you have them join the guilds first on, you can get them some training and some good equipment (in the guild screen) that will help them out in their first encounters.

Other than that, it's just a matter of getting used to the interface. Let us know how it's going!

Um thanks Sagerider (and Davros) but I dumped the dead guys! LOL! Those skulls were depressing! Lost some gear, though! Got new characters created, some not so good maybe...sigh

Thanks for the advice! Um so should I be wandering aimlessly around in the woods looking for things to kill me..er uh, to kill?! LOL I can manage that! How do I know when my characters level up? or what level they are?

I have one char with a bow. So one of the bars shows mana points? Ok, guess I'll keep my eyes open for that. If I try a spell and the wizard is out of mana, can he/she still use a staff or something to hit with?
