What is the Best MISSILE or Bow\Crossbow? - Page 2

Only if you're using bows, Six. If you're heavily into crossbows you're out of luck unless you're fighting fishmen or drow.

Odd that no-one's mentioned the Light Crossbow of Speed yet, one of my favourite early crossbows. Quick-firing and packs a crossbowesque punch.

That used to be the best crossbow in early (well, complete) SoA, but you can buy Firetooth for ~16k gp. Firetooth has a speed of 0, so it's basically better in all aspects [img]smile.gif[/img]

I have never really understood how u work out the THACO chart, speed factor and the damage? just in weapons in general or armour?
(*like the calcualtion u just did for the bows
*or in the calcualtion of combat damage per round THACO to hit then damage less the armour rating of the target = "x" damage)
I would of thought like for eg 1d10 + 2 would of meant damage equals 3-12 damage???
Can some1 pls explain this....?
