I think parties are more difficult than soloing. By the end of Chapter 4, a solo F/M/T can clean up the rest of the game with ease. A 4-6 person party goes through constant challenge.

Thoughts on challenging parties:
 • Anti-magic party: wizard slayer, swashbuckler, barbarian, monk, archer (no cleric spells), Korgan
 • Pro-magic NPC party: PC bard (no kit), Nalia, Jaheira, Edwin, Kelsey, Anomen
 • Pro-magic party: bard, abjurer, sorcerer, ranger, druid, wild/plain mage
 • BG2 specialty party: barbarian, sorcerer, monk, wild mage (ToB only)
 • Traditional D&D party: fighter, thief, mage, cleric (no kits)
 • Pirates!: 2 swashbucklers, berserker, enchanter/sorcerer, blade, multiclass thief/cleric
I stopped playing my Kelsey romance party for a while--the romance heated up and I had little privacy to play. So I took a party from BG1 where I made all six characters, played them through TotSC, imported them into BG2, and dual-classed them. I have a beast master/thief, swashbuckler/mage, the animal-friendly ranger kit/cleric, kensai/druid, cleric of helm/mage, and my favorite, the abjurer/fighter. I want to find out who works better, a mage/fighter or a bard, and also conduct some dual-classing tests.

I like those ideas, especially the pirate group. Brynnlaw would be like a homecoming. For your anti-magic party I would substitute Valygar(no spell casting allowed) for one of them simply for his anti-magic raving.

SpongeBob: A gnomish cleric/thief can be a juggernaut of destruction. Just ask Butterfingers or Lemmy.

I don't like Valygar the way he is right now, and praise be to LennonCook for his NPC fix mods. The only reason I can figure he's a stalker of all things is his racial enemy: golems. If anyone's done Valygar's quest, you probably know how much that might come in handy. Once Mr. Corthala becomes the Wizard Slayer he was meant to be, then maybe he'd work for an anti-magic party.

Chapter 4 spoilers!

I think it'd be fun to take a 5 male/1 female pirate party to Brynnlaw, then update their personal biographies to mention their "encounters" with Cayia and wild drunken revelry with the Vulgar Monkey pirates. But that's just me. (BTW, anyone notice that the Vulgar Monkey pirates in BG2 are the city of Baldur's Gate's sailor bar sailors from BG1?)

What is the most easiest class to solo with? Curious because if you just solo with a figher you kick butt. Until you stumble upon a foe that has more expireince in melee combat or a wizard. I prefer parties all the way. I feel more comfortable with a group behind me I have this sorta family feeling, if you had the same party members for a while. But when I solo I feel a bit spooked into going into underground dungeons such as the Windspear Hills or Bodhi's crypt. I would at least have one party member with me. Someone like Imoen. She's the spellcaster and I am the mucscle!

But those who have soloed so many times don't you ever feel that your character might be a lil lonely?

It's not parties OR solo, it's party AND solo!

Both experiences add up to completing BGII SoA+ToB for the full monty !!

fighter/mage/thief. especially if you use (project image/mislead) and deal backstabbing multiplied damage as long as the spell lasts. another tactic is to boost yourself to hell with protection spells and such and haste into massacre.

most ridiculous, allthough ToB-related, is cast timestop, charge your enemy and use greater whirlwind ability.
conclusion : game is easy as softball with this char, there are myriads of ways to rule with it.
