yeh, that's true - well when I get MANLY enough to try soloing I'll keep a cav in mind - sorcs are the standard power character for solo so I might try that first, but maybe later on... Even Dundee sez a fighter is generally the hardest, so I took that to mean paladins too.

Actually, my solo Cavalier made short work of Firkragg( within a turn). It will be harder if you do not have ToB installed, as the lack of HLAs will hurt, but it is by no means hard.

By Fighters, I really mean Fighters like Kensais and Wizard Slayers. Paladins are in a league of their own, and have an easier time than Fighters.

Buy a green scroll of Protection from Fire. You will need to have at least 10 INT to read it, so gulp Potions of Genius if your INT is lacking. The primary issue with Firkragg is his Wing Buffet, but he rarely uses it, so no worries. Armour of Faith will reduce the damage dealt to you, while Draw Upon Holy Might will boost your combat statistics.

I used Frostreaver +3 and Saving Grace shield against Firkragg. The elemental damage from the axe bypassed his Stoneskins. You can read more about it here. Note that I had ToB installed, so I had access to HLAs.

Many thanks - now that you've spelled out workable strategies, it sounds very exciting. (And to think I thought Armor of Faith was a useless spell!)

However, if I do try it, it'll be tough for me due to not having ToB installed, but I do have the XP cap lifted instead... Thanks again

Dundee just wondering how you managed to pickpocket the genie bottle with a solo cavalier?

Obviously you havent soloed much. Soloing requires planning, not just hack and slash tactics. You fight Firkragg in heads up fight with your solo cavalier without using potions of fire resistance and we'll see who wins. Hack and slash may work with big high level parties, but not when you are a moderate level solo fighter class.

It was a sarcastic comment. There are ways to beat anything. Whatever tactic you use, cheap, cheesy, "honorable", whatever... that's your preference.

Can a cavalier with Celestial Fury really stun a dragon? [Paladins only get 2-star proficiency, correct?] How about Flail of Ages' Slow effect, then? On dragons, I mean. Fighter type killing a dragon alone seems pretty scary...
Yes, Celestial Fury and FoA effects both affect dragons.

Erm... I dispensed righteous justice and saved the town by killing the Genies. There is more than one way to get things done you know.

The first time I finished the game, was with a Cavalier(not soloing)!
The best part is that your party never has to worry about being frightened!
