Is it over yet?

Court rejects $54 million missing pants case
Quote:
The former D.C. judge sued after his dry cleaners lost his pants

WASHINGTON - An appeals court says there will be no new trial for a former District of Columbia judge who tried to sue his dry cleaners for $54 million over a lost pair of pants.

The D.C. Court of Appeals on Thursday rejected the request from Roy L. Pearson to overturn a 2007 ruling that denied him damages. Pearson had argued that Custom Cleaners failed to live up to its promise of "Satisfaction Guaranteed."

Three appellate judges agreed Pearson failed to show the store's advertising amounted to fraud and said his argument defied logic.

Pearson can still ask the entire nine-judge appellate court to review the case or appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Man, I hope they start adding court costs to this guy... aside from the ridiculousness of the case, he hasn't realized that the horse is indeed dead, and beating it harder won't make it go *any* farther...

Not Ready for Prime Time: William Jarrett, 38, was charged in Hempstead Village, N.Y., in November with swiping a necklace from a 32-year-old pregnant woman and running off. Despite her condition, the woman chased him, screaming, for six blocks and caught up with him just as a police officer was arriving on the scene. [Newsday, 11-18-08]

Muoi Van Nguyen, 31, was arrested in Spokane Valley, Wash., in November, charged with breaking a window with a hammer at a state liquor store and grabbing a bottle of wine valued at $9. Earlier, Van Nguyen had tried unsuccessfully to break the window with a rock, but decided he needed a hammer to do the job and went to a nearby store, where he purchased one for $11. Shocked Don't mess with Granny

I've been slacking a bit on the Odd News, but this one caught my eye... another of the "old people are tougher than you think" group:

Quote:

Ore. woman, 88, gives naked intruder the 'squeeze'

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said an 88-year-old woman fended off a naked intruder by grabbing the man's crotch and squeezing. Deputy Paul McRedmond said the man got into the house Tuesday through a sliding door. He backed the woman into her living room and pushed her face down onto a chair.

That's when the woman reached behind and squeezed. The man tore free and fled.

McRedmond said a county code enforcement officer who heard the police call on his radio spotted a car near the woman's house and passed on the license information to authorities.

Troutdale police arrested a 46-year-old man. He has been jailed on accusations of burglary, harassment and private indecency. Bail was set at $110,000.
There's another one where you don't want to admit the truth when you're in the big house...

"Tell me again how you got caught?"

"She grabbed it and squeezed... hard!"

"Aww.... c'mere, sugarcakes..."

***************

*edit* Just came across an article the perp's name... Michael Dick.

I'll leave you alone at this point...
