I'm a fairly new BG2 player, but I'm about 2/3 through the game. I never played BG2 though, and I was wondering what I missed. I'm not worried about the storyline, I can gather that from the current story and some of the posts here. What I want to know about is what were the really cool moments in BG1? Surprises, incredible visuals, interesting characters, plot twists, etc. I don't have any plans for buying BG1 (TOB now, that's another story!), but I want to know what interesting things I missed!
So tell me your favorite story from BG1. . . |

This will get more replies in the BG1 forum, Romulus, so that's where it's going.

That was one of the funniest things to do Khanar. The best thing for me was to baet up on all those people who think they are sooooooooo superior to you. "Loose money or loose head" you know. All they got was an up and close encounter with a couple swords and arrows.

I thought that feeling of imminent danger was the best thing about BG1. First time I got out of Candlekeep I decided to explore the world before going to the Friendly Arm Inn. I met a bear and ended up with the short end of the stick a couple of times. After that I stuck to the beaten path till I was stronger.

I like the open countryside in BG1.
And I loved finding new weapons. ------------------ ![]() |

Open countryside? You mean you could just wander through the land? Sounds a bit like Daggerfall, and that's one thing that I liked about that game.
Too bad it had that only-half-finished feel to it. |

well, probably not like daggerfall, but there are on the order of 60-70 areas in BG1, but they were mostly empty, only a couple of quests on most of the maps. So, BG2 is greatly concentrated world. I prefer BG2, but BG1 is also fun.
