Dundee-Given that memorizing a spell is, essentially, 4,000 free xp, why shouldn't I memorize every spell that will fit in my spellbook? Granted, space issues come up, but there's always the delete-spell option (which doesn't delete the xp gained by memorizing).

Now would it be worth it to buy a particular spell, just to memorize it? That's a tougher question, IMO.

You're confusing memorizing a spell (i.e. getting it ready to cast) and writing it to spellbook which gives you the 4000XP.

I worry about the two people who never memorize Stoneskin. That's an interesting tactical decision
I would be the second one. Quite frankly, I abhore the use of direct damage spells that do only damage. Whenever I have a wizard in my partry, I have that wizard focus on disabling spells. Doing small amounts of damage versus fully incapacitating your opponent is a [sarcasm] really hard decision. [/sarcasm]

But digression is the path to evil. The reason I don't use stoneskin, is because I can find a more practical use of a spell slot. If I have Protection ffrom Missiles, and either Protection from Normal or Magical weapons active, stoneskin seems like a waste of time. Either way, if my opponents are incapacitated, why would I need it?

And besides that, contrary to popular belief, if you keep your mage out of danger, you don't need those spells

Like writing into spellbook, deleting, writing into spellbook, deleting, writing into spellbook and constantly getting xp or only once per spell? If it is constant I just found a way to do something with extra cash
Mages sometimes get in danger if you want it or not... like stupid random spawns in the center of your group (read: Tactics, this brought me already 3 times on the verge of deinstalling and the use of cheese... As I don't use that (okay, one time shield of Balduran but that isn't against all), I don't want it to be seen by NPC's)

i've only just flicked over to the poll thread in 'general discussion'

some interesitng points on 'enchanted weapon' - specfically that it creates a variety of +3 weapons that can be given to anyone and last for 24 hours (cast - hand out weapons - pick new spells - rest again - 18 hours with the weapons)

i had no idea . . .

I never bother with polymorph other. Do or die spells have never been among my favourites.

I don't think there is a 4-level spell I have never memorized before, though the one I use less must be Monster Summoning II.

Contagion is quite underrated IMHO.
Its effects are permanent,it stacks with itself and ignores MR too.The only problem is that you have to touch the enemy, making it impossible to put in S.Sequencers,S.Triggers.
