I am a newbe at this game and have just arrived at Arnika where I am immediately attacked by Myles, the guards, antones and just about everybody except the Priests (?).
This is all unprovoked ---- what am I doing wrong --- shouldn't the likes of Myles and the shop keepers etc. be able to talk to me????? Any suggestions appreciated. DowydB |

Hello DowydB and welcome.
Had you somehow or unknowingly attacked any other NPC you came across? or maybe in a battle some got drawn in and killed? If that's the case then they will be hostile towards you. You might have to start again. I know when I was playing deathstalkers mod, I attacked a couple of NPC’s I thought for some extra XP points, it wasn’t until I got to Arnkia when I realised my mistake when everyone attacked me, that was hours of gaming and training wasted. Another time I was in the middle of Arnika in a huge battle when somehow I must have unknowingly killed someone and that turned the whole town against me. Luckily I had saved a bit before that battle and could re-load. Try some saved games and see what happens, good luck and let us know what happens.

But if even Myles at the entrance is attacking him already, that's really strange, no?
Are there any Higardis you can kill on your way from Monastery to Arnika? I cannot think of any. Unless you managed somehow to kill Altheides... but even then I guess it should be the monks who attack you, not the citizens, and not vice versa. |

Thanks for the input. To the best of my knowledge I do not think I have been nasty to any NPCs. The only thing I can think of is I experimented with "Buzz"(?) pickpocket/shoplift to understand the interface and limits but was sure I also went back to a safe "save game". In any case, he still seemed friendly when I went there to trade off some of the unneeded "loot" that I picked up along the way just prior to the final quick march to Arnika.
Maybe I will do a re-start. I have been trying to get along with just a Rogue, Bard, Ranger and a Bishop --- seems to help gaining levels more quickly than earlier when I started playing with a full slate. DowydB |

IT could have been Burz maybe...But it's always good to try out lots of different partys. I tried loads of vairous different classes before I got past Arnika!

Miles doesn't care about anybody, but himself. He would never get hostile at you, unless there's some mod that changes that. I usually always kill him anyway, for his stuff and nobody cares.

you do not have to kill an NPC for his stuff, you recruit him/her, take his stuff, there's a small trick to get objects (see net) they do not want to part with, and dismiss them. Funny enough, afterwards, if they fight to help you they still are armed and armored, but when you try to re-enlist them they have nothing, gr. William

That is correct. However, what I do is, enlist them, dismiss them, then kill them, for more stuff! In fact, you usually get better stuff from Miles by killing him, than just getting the stuff he has on him.
I've had him drop healing amulets when dies. ..very nice when you're lvl 7.
