There's other, less risky ways to kill a big cat, as well. A 60 year-old man killed a cougar with a pocket knife in our area a few years ago, although he was badly hurt. It jumped him in the bush while he was lying down under a tree, and he managed to stand up and open his knife while it was chewing off his face. He cut its throat and walked out to get medical attention.
