For those of you who don`t know already, telstra are my absolutely f`ing stupid ISP.
I can`t get to db-forge, the portrait portal, or the WeiDU message boards, among some other places.
I know it`s my ISPs fault, because someone I talk to on MSN can get to the sites.
I know it isn`t a DNS problem, because I can`t ping them.

I absolutely HATE telstra`s service; they have absolutely no consideration for anything bar money. Trust a half-private telecommunications giant to do this too you...

They take it within an hour, and tell you it`s not their problem within a further 3. On a good day.

Lennon what the hell are you doing man?!?!? Everyobody knows you just don't sign up with Telstra unless you like an internet connection that goes up and down 4 times a day. Dude if you can afford it go Optushome (optusnet now if I'm correct) or anything else. Get rid of Telstra first chance you can mate. You'll be glad you did and will notice that you will be paying for internet access you can use for a change!
Best of luck

Well I am annoyed at Telstra as well today - just got back home after a week away to find that my connection hasn't been upgraded to 512 ADSL . The little island I live on is served by a sub-exchange rather than a direct exchange, so the architecture won't allow me to upgrade - bugger bugger bugger bugger bugger!!!

Damn, that's bad luck Davros!

Actually though I do dislike Telstra quite a lot, I have to say whenever I call technical support I never have to wait longer than 5 minutes. And they're always very nice and helpful. Of course I'm calling because their services are shoddy...

If only I had a choice.
But Mum chose the service; and she needs ADSL for work; so she won`t HEAR of switching ISPs. There`s always SOME problem she can find with them, while she`s completely blind to Telstra being down or laggy constantly

You bet it is! And if you're lucky enough to getting them to pass over the speed tweek that they use (not the ones you get online) you're breezing at 800kb/s and above if the servers you are downloading from support that speed of course.

Lennon if you can get her to change her mind you'll be in heaven. I've had Optus Cable for over a year now and it's only been down twice. Once when all the American servers went down and it lasted about 2 days (we could still surf any AU sites) and once again for a couple of hours. Apart from that, Optus delivers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year with no flaw!
I`ll try to; even if I do get her to change though, it won`t be for a little while; we have an 18 month contract or something...
