I was trying to remember the name of an old game I remembered when I posted on the 'what game was life-changing' topic. Then I also remembered someone had asked for a game's name on another topic. So...
I can't remember too much about it, but I remember that you could see enemies before they attacked, but I think there might have also been random encounters. In the beginning, the main guy goes up to the shopkeeper lady, and says something about having killed about 6 jellies, and the total came to about 120g. The lady says that it was now only 100g. Somehow, they ended up eating in the back room, and they were eating some 'phantom fish' that tasted bad until it was squirted with lemon juice. The shopkeep joined you, I think. The tutorial was a dungeon instead of a bunch of old guys in a room telling you about combat. You could get these certain monsters to join you. I think there was a total of 7. They would 'level up' about five times in the game, but they were all optional, so I ended up only having one. The name of the third guy to join you was Guy. You were going to fight, but then something came and attacked, and you both fought it. He joined you then. He was about twice as good as your character. Then there was something about a glass blower guy, and I think he sent you to get a glass apple or something. The fourth person to join you was some mage lady, who was also about twice as good as you. The dungeon there had some evil clown guy at the end. I loaded someone else's file, and they were at the end. You fought about four people, but just before, there was something about a legendary sword and shield, you had gotten the shield previously, and got the sword after it chose you over the evil boss. Then you were transported to the final area and fought the four people, one by one. No matter how easily you had beaten the final one, everyone was nearly dead. Then there was something about the dungeon falling out of the sky, and would hit the town. Your nearly dead character was just strong enough to break the three crystals, diverting the falling dungeon somewhere far away. Then you turned into a spirit and joined the mage girl, who had died just after the final boss. Guy and someone else (he had blue hair, don't remember his name.) had ran off after the final boss. No mention of the monsters. If I remember anything else, I'll post it. Sorry about how it kinda jumps around. |

Sounds very much like Lufia. Most likely Lufia 2. Lufia actually takes place after Lufia 2.
In fact if there is a character named Guy that joins your team I'm almost certain it's Lufia 2. Since in Lufia Guy is far too old to join you.

Most Lufia games are the same then? I've only played the GBC title, but it had a lot of the same elements. The Sinistrals, the girl with the blue hair, Doom Island (which I presume is the dungeon in the sky)..
There's nothing wrong with that, though. |

IIRC Lufia on the GB is a remake of the first one. I could be wrong since I haven't played it though.

I'll have to find it on ebay, now that I know what it is. And eight responses overnight for a game I didn't know if anyone had ever heard of!
Is the first one also good? I'd rather have it on SNES than GBC. |
