Mage(s) ... need help

I am currently playing without one, but need one badly as everyone knows who plays this game. Where/how do I get one into the party. My party is currently full, but dropping a member is not a problem.

Ok, their are two mages in my opinion worth considering.
SPOILER
One is Xan.He is found in the Nashkel Mines (Chapter 3).He is not bad,but I prefer Edwin.He is found at the bottom of Nashkel,nr the bridge.

Well, there are 4 mages that you can get early in the game, this is what i think of them:

-Xan: found in Nashkell mines, i dont like his low hit points (and to be sincere i dont like his deppresive mood )
-Xzar: low hit points, he´s evil... i dont like him
-Dynaheir: i usually use her, i think she´s pretty good, and with decent hit points.
-Edwin: he ROCKS, very good mage, his amulet gives him extra spells (2 per level i think)... BUT he´s evil. Anyway having him in a good party wont be bad if your rep doesnt go above 18... and if you dont have minsc

Later you can find another mage, QUAYLE (sorry for the mistake ), a cleric/illusionist... ive never tried him, but the bad point is that you wont be able to get him till chapter 5.

Tiax is a multiclass thief (cant remember exactly, i think he´s fighter thief, dunno), and yeah, he´s outside the Flaming Fist, trying to recruit you to conquer the world .

Get xzar hes the funniest thing in the game.

A mage that seems to have gone unnoticed by everyone so far is Imoen. I know she is a thief but look at her stats. 17 intelligence for a thief ? If you dual class her to a mage at her thief level 5. She can become a 6 level mage before reaching the cap of BG.

That's a great tip, I didnt think of this.One day I will replay the game and do this!
