Early in the gane I ended up slaying Ondres Neronos in Balmora as part of a Thieves (?) quest. I now need to get him to stop his slander before I can progress in House Redoran. However he is no longer there and his death is not recognised. Is there any way I can progress to Councillor without completing this quest?

If I remember correctly. In the thief guild quest, you can't kill him or else the quest is failed.
anyway, if you are playing pc version than you'll need to do the console command ( not verified to work ). go to your TES : editor and load up Morowind.esm . In the npc section seatch for Ondres Nerano ID. jot down the ID. go back to the game. press ~ to bring up the console and type.. placeatpc npcID 1,1,1 after that press enter. |

Thanks for that. I have finally worked out the syntax and can restore ondres nerano. However another character I need to restore (now I know how)is Varus Vatinius. However when he is restored, he comes back in combat mode and I can't talk to him. Is there any way of stoppimg that happening?

cast calm humanoid on him. then talk to him as fast as possible before the spell effect wear off.
