With my all Fighter party I'm having trouble IDing some of the higher lvl stuff, since the scrolls only have a certain power lvl. Can I pay at the shops or something to have this none?

You could always recruit Vi or perhaps that Psionic in Arnika and let them identify the items, if you allow yourself to do that. Just buy a book of Relic for one of them.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with my "no magic" party. Most other RPGs I've played had a "pay to identify" option for shops/NPCs/whatever, but apparently that idea didn't make it into Wiz8. You can sell the item (for 25% of the purchase price) and then buy it back, but magic-impaired parties get hit with a double whammy here: you typically don't have much cash either. About the best you can do is spend a while in the Rapax Castle as a non-Templar; the ever-spawning Rapax hordes drop goodies that sell for good amounts, so you can build up a respectable bank balance fairly quickly.

That's an interesting idea! I could even sell the suff, buy it back and then reload! At leasr I'd know what it was then.

I grabbed the mook and got him up 1 lvl so I could give him the ID spell (9th lvl and he doesn't even come with it?). I'll use him now and then as I need to.

I'm getting to where I pick fewer and fewer spells at level-up time, at least for spell levels 1-4; instead I visit the shopkeepers and buy the books. Ferro sells most of the level 5 spells of interest, but I usually pick at least a couple of them before I get to him (Purify Air at the minimum, for the SE Wilderness Death Lords). As nearly as I can determine, you can buy books for all but 4 of the spells in levels 1-5, and you can find a book for 2 of those 4. And there are 3 sets of Set/Return Portal books to be found, so you can have those well before you get to Ferro. This is especially key for a Bishop: unless you're going to play until s/he reaches character level 101 (is that even possible?), the only way to get all the need/nice-to-have spells--much less all of them--is from buying/finding books. |

I saw Anna 'til I was blue in the face. She just never had the darn thing. Urq only needed 160k for lvl up so I just completed a quest or two and did a bit of combat instead.
