I just went out and bought 512MB RAM chip...should I also keep the 128MB chip in there or take it out..or should I take back the 512MB and get 2 256s? With the 128MB I had in there before..Morrowind was relatively playable but I got too impatient with the lag. I am hoping more RAM will help out. My processor is 900mhz btw...any imput on this matter would be a great help. thanks.

More is almost always better. It`s not the size of the stick of ram but how you use it...he he he. Anyway what is more important is the type of ram your motherboard supports. Having a system with a front side bus that can (bus)-move the data at say 400mhz is great. But if the ram you have is say SDRAM that only clocks the data at 275mhz it won`t really matter how much you have. The ram will not be able to keep up. I just upgraded because of this. I had a motherboard that only supported SDRAM. I now have one that supports 2GB of PC2100/1600 DDR SDRAM. Anyway more in any configuration should help. If it is Sdram you are using you will not see a huge improvement unless you can upgrade to faster ram. My new system with less ram than I had now runs morrowind 15 to 25 FPS faster than my old system. All I changed was a better motherboard with less but faster ram. It was still a pricy endevour and probably not what you had in mind but it was my only option. I had installed 1GB of ram on my old system and got very little performance gain in morrowind. My SDRAM just couldn`t move that data fast enough.
