Step 1: Get your guys to about level 11- and to max level
Step 2: Get lower resistance, learn all protection from fire and element spells and scrolls.
Step 3: Have good archers in party, skilled with bow.
Step 4: have a VERY good priest with good defensive spells
Step 5: cast all wonder spells (haste, stoneskin, chant, etc)
Step 6: Spread guys out round the dragon, with all guys with missle weapons ready
Step 7: Fire!! Make the dragon chase one person, and since your guys are spread out, his wing buffet affects one guy. Keep making it chase ur guy until dead from other archers.

Did you kill them by using just traps?

Yeah actually now that i think about it, a buddy of mine told me to try using Yoshimo and setting some traps, and i think thats what i did. Set a bunch of traps and killed him, and i didnt get any experience. Then when i went back i dont think i used traps, maybe thats why i got the experience. Thanks i think your right.

I had this problem with dragons and high-level spell casters (e.g. the bridge district lich) too.
In my case after *breaching* their anti-magic defenses in some cases they killed themselves with their own area-effect spells. This results in no experience points for the player.

This also happens in BG1: If the enemy manages to toast itself, the player will see no xp (happend to me in the Cloakwood Mine in BG1, whre this Deveron guy killed himself with a lightning bolt - no 8000 xp

Anyway, I think i read somewhere that if you are a Paladin and you kill the big red one before getting the quest to do so, you also get no xp.

With my method all you need to kill the black dragon(forgot his name because it is confusing) is the cleric spell Gate. All you have to do is cast gate beside the dragon, but make sure to be out of the dragons sight. If everything goes like it did for me the dragon wont even pay attention to the demon and let it slowly hack him to death. If you want to you could rush in at the end and kill the dragon for the exp. that is what I did. Make sure all your group members are protected from evil though or the demon will come after you. Another method that I used to kill the dragon was to pick all the mages i could. Learn ice storm and cloud kill and proceed to pummel the dragon from a distance with the spells. May take a while if the dragons heal themselves but it worked for me.
