Hi all,

I am playing baulders gate 1. I have a Paladin and a Wizard who are both at at 89000 exp. When I get into a fight it says I gain x amount of exp but my exp doesn't go above 89000. It does show an amount for next level. Am I at max with my exp? I have Release Version 1.1.4315 .

Thanks for any help.

Frank

The official experience cap in BG I is always 89,000 points regardless of the release, in the expansion TotSc it goes up to 161,000 points which translates into one or two levels more depending on the class. There are certainly many exp. cap removers to be found on many gaming websites, including probably the Ironworks'. But if you want to go on to play BG II, all imported characters from BG I will be reduced to 89,000 or 161,000 points(if imported from TotSC) again.

Thanks for the reply. What file do I need to change the exp with so it will go above the cap? And will it really matter to gain the extra levels?

Thanks a bunch,

Frank

The exp. remover programs usually consist of a file(s) that has/have to be copied into the game override folder.

As I said before, if you are planning on importing your characters into BG II all levels over the cap will be lost. But until then you can, of course, use all spells, abilities, hps, etc gained through the new levels - if you have used a good remover program that implements all the benefits of levelling up - take a look at desslock's. I know that they have good removers/rule fixes for BG II there, so I am assuming that they are having them for BG I as well. But I, for instance, don't remember if there are any level 6 mage spells to be found in the game, so that could, for example, limit the fun of playing a mage way over the cap. There is one other possibility to maximize your gaming experience in BG I: play Dark Side of the Swordcoast, an unofficial expansion, that allows to go up to level 12-15. I have only just begun to play it myself. It is said to be very good, but you need TotSc and to start a new game of BG I to play it. You can get it here.

Hi Ramon, how are you my friend?

Small question, if I was to import a guy (say a pure thief) into BG2 directly from BG1 would he start at a lower level than if I were to import him in after completing TOTSC as well? (I may make a third run through BG1 yet.)

How are you getting on with the Dark side btw?

Best wishes

Charlie, I think that if you import into BG2 a character from BG1 it starts with 89.000 xp and if you import a character from TotSC it starts with 161.000

Thanks Ertai,

I never knew that. I just assumed that you started BG2 at level 7 or whatever regardless of XP gained.

Cheers.

Oh, congrat's buddy btw. Is it still Wizard adept, or have you now moved up a level? I hope all is well for you my friend

PS. Oops, the sig says it all
