Hi guys,
once again I'd like to hear your assessments on a small party game that I have begun recently (my Faerie Bishop/Monk is now lvl 22/9 and hardly anything is a match for her). I was wondering whether it is possible to survive with two Rangers (one Mook, the other Felpurr). I have to say that I find it rather hard. They are both lvl 4 now but I've decided to stop levelling. I managed Gregor, but the bugs in the room to open the gate to the Upper Monastery are simply too difficult because they paralyze me in the first or second round and there is no chance to recover. Do you think that this duo is possible at all, or am I just being stupid in their handling? Also, for the Ranger, is the crossbow generally a better weapon than the bow? Where to get double/triple shot crossbows? Cheers, Legolas73 |

With bows or crossbows, I generally use whichever I have nice ammo for. Tripleshot crossbows are strong, but chew up stamina, and get weaker towards the end with their +2 swings, while a big difference to someone with one swing, isnt so great with someone who has three. Later i prefer the +damage and kill% bows that become available. If you want to make +shot crossbows, theres a gadgeteer later on who can make them straight away, i think.
Also you may have problems without access to magic screen or soul shield ever. If i was forced to play these two on expert I'd probably max piety fast to get iron will, and hope that can take their place with reasonable success. Otherwise you might run into some serious problems with mental magic and death magic, which can hurt. If you're having trouble with one particular encounter, consider again the powders and bombs you have available. Some of them can make a real difference. Im not sure how that party will do. They can handle melee and ranged combat, and have access to some very useful spells later, but you may find yourself hurting without the buffs that bishops, priests, and even bards and gadgeteers get. The only way to get double or triple shot xbows is to have a gadgeteer make them for you. Since you have none in your party, you'll need to take on the Trynnie gadgeteer in Trynton. He can make double-shot crossbows. If you want a triple, he'll have to stay with you for awhile and get his engineering skill up high enough to make one.
Triples use up ammo at an incredible rate, and you will need to carry a lot of arrows with you. Making the bows is simple. The gadgeteer merges two light xbows to make a double. Then, when skill is high enough, merge another light xbow with the double to make a triple. |
