I worked my liz fighters dual up fairly high after reading about the whole diamond eyes thing. I know, meta gaming at its worst. Anyways, where the hell is diamond eye? I found excaliber in the shallows, but its 2 handed. Even though it lets me jack my bard up with bloodlust. I have a feeling I fell prey to the whole random drop thing.

The other question, if I kill something, check its drops, reload and kill it again, will the drops be different? Or are the preset like chests. I was thinking about wiping out the trynnies, they are annoying anyways.

It is near Bela behind a waterfall among with other nice items, especially a cursed staff there.

Ok, kick arse. So where is Bela? I was about to head over to the bridge with the golem guard area after I do all the trang and umpani quests.

Head over the bridge. The first left takes you to Bela. Or go straight and hug mountains to the right to get to the cave with Diamond Eyes. There will be some "interesting " critters to battle if you go this way. If you are not strong enough, I would enter the Mountain Wilderness from the south (transport to Rapax entrance from T'rang transporter, turn around, head to open area on right. Hug left mountains to cave, after fighting some critters along the way. Hard, but not quite as hard.)

No, that's Winterwand behind the golem's waterfall with the Staff of Doom. Diamond Eyes is in a barrow in the Eastern region of the Mountain Wilderness, along with a Death Lord and a couple of heads. Getting there, much less getting out alive with Diamond Eyes, is not really something you want to try with a low-level party.

If you have Excaliber, use it! Depending on your viewpoint, it's one of the three most powerful weapons in the game! Plus, you only have to build up one skill; to most effectively use Fang/Ivory Blade + Diamond Eyes, you must build three skills.

On the other question, "No", killed-monster-drops are not fixed; if you save before killing something juicy and don't like what you got, you can reload and try again. Be aware, though, that some of the nicest droppable items are *really* rare, so it may not be worth killing the same thing 50 times trying to get a specific item.

That's right, I had wrong cave for DE. You do get a nice staff at the waterfall if you don't mind using cursed weapons.

BTW: Some treasures, like Excal, will not appear if you sit in front of a chest and keep reloading. You have to save BEFORE entering the entire region and reload from there to get a new randomization. This can be a drag, especially with a particular serpent.

Yeah. Basically:
1) Monster drops are determined at the time the monster is killed
2) Chest loads--*all* chests in a zone--are set up the first time you enter that zone

So, if you really, really want Excaliber or the *Light**Sword*, you can get it--as long as you're willing to fight your way to the appropriate chest dozens of times.

It is possible to get Diamond Eyes without engaging the Death Lord and Heads. Get as close as you can without having combat start automatically. Start combat manually. Select to run and start the round. Move forward until you can take Diamond Eyes, then go back out of view of the Death Lord and Heads. Combat will end.

Oh, ooops, I must have been very tired when I wrote that. I knew that Diamond eyes wasn't behind the waterfall. Go there anyway.

The *second* diamond eyes that you could get is a random drop that you can get by killing the trynnie shaman after you've done what he wanted and he's given you the special quest-related item. Killing him does not, by itself, make the trynnies mad at you and his guards will even help kill him.

Sometimes I've done it in just a few reloads, other times I've sat there for hours. If you can make good use of two DEs, though, it's worth the effort.
