Hi!

Does anyone know where I can find the *Light* *Sword*? I had that one back in Wizardry7 but allthough I imported my old Wizardry7 party I couldn't take that with me. It's the BEST sword to find out there!! Somewhere I read that its also to find in Wizardry 8!
Would be glad if someone could help me on that.

Thanks in advance!

Trouble with getting it in Bayjin is that you'd have to fight your way to that blasted chest again and again in the hope that it would be there.

Easier to get it from the ghosts, who drop it rarely but randomly.

Best to sneak up on them, fire off an iceball or noxious fumes, then break off combat before ANY of them die, and save. That way, you can load the save, off 'em easily, and wait for the light sword-- one of the regulars here suggested this, and it works very well.

Which, by the way, is as good in my opinion as Excal: if I had 2 lights, wouldn't even worry about excal [except maybe as a trade item], since the lights are one handed, you can have something good in the off hand that will more than make up for any small discrepancies between excal and light.

Forget the ol' reload way. Just see if the ghosts or the chest pops it, if not, add it to someone's inventory with a save game editor. Faster, but the result is *exactly* the same...

I think the point is, if you reload 73 times to get something, you have earned it.

yeah right, by the 73th time reloading you'll be insane if not your head go bald already.

I think we could talk about earning if you didn't need to reload. I mean that if, say nessie and his (her?) chest reloaded always after x hours of gameplay. And then you got another go on the sword all the while earning some xp, not just mindlessly reloading for hours on end in the worst case getting nothing for your efforts, then I'd tolerate random popping items in a single player game.

I don't like random items, but if I got some xp/cash/other items while trying to get a random item, I won't feel like totally wasting my time while trying to get it. If I only got a sore finger from clicking that load button (like it is now ), I'll happily use an editor in a single player game, since IMO random items, which you can try to get only once while playing thru the game (unless you reload), should be illegalized And 'specially in a single player game, it should made so, that you *will* get that random item later for sure if you didn't get lucky on that 3% early load...

And I've earned the item by making it to that point in the game and by beating the creature that carries it...

Phew, morning crankiness, but I'm done now...

Hi and thanks to all!

I found it!!! One of the ghost in Bayjin Shallows left it for me! And with that one in my pocket I went on to Nessie and kicked her out the ocean in 6! rounds! I'm glad I found it again, it made a very good job back in wizardry7

thx again for the hint

Heh, i remember my later W-7 games, going as directly as possible to the Light Sword, loading up on Heal potions to survive the Dane fire gantlet and sneaking past Brobbie. It was the one boss weapon that was always there, now it's the opposite, almost; you can buy or sneak most the boss stuff but that (and X-Cal, which was a random item in W-7, too)
And didn't the Cane always drop? I don't remember reloading after killing Blinmies. Before, yah.
