Does anybody know how to get some of the very nice items from those NPCs in Arnika without resorting to pickpocketing?
i.e. Mantis gloves,Mantis boots, Dragon Kite shield from Antone Rapax During my previous game, I found these items to be VERY useful especially the Dragon Kite for my fighter...In my current game, I don't want to do any thieving whatsoever. Does anybody know of another method? |

kill him? drastic and i wouldn't do it. it might not even get him to drop his good equipment.
just remember, in this game, some items are ONLY available thru thievery.

Lucky you on the Mantis gloves, i got Plate legs +2 from the chest you are referring to, but as always all items in chests are created random otherwise you would head straight to the good stuff the second time you play the game...........i however know how and where to get the Cane of Corpus . If anyone wants an spoiler, just post under my post that you want to know where and how to get it

I hate to say it but pickpocketing not only is the best way I know of in answering your question, and the only other way is what Vesselle suggests: kill them. But like she said: Its drastic and she wouldn't do it, and I doubt anyone who wants to get a lot out of the game(not to mention to keep a handy smithy in Arnika) would do so. PP'ing is the only way really. Not only that, hmm... MINOR SPOILER BELOW...
- - - - - When you're pickpocketing NPC's and you get to the point where a message says "Nothing Left To Steal", its not an accurate msg. Actually, there's plenty left to steal, and even after you've gotten the Nothing left medssage 4 or 5 times in a row there's still likely something left that will come up, possibly one of the better or even nicest items inthe game perhaps. In Arnika alone Ive managed to get the mantis gloves/boots, an Ankh of Dex(off of Tramain), some of the nicest spellbooks, some of which I had to stash for when my chars are able to use them(eg Book of Banishing, from Lord Braffit), amulets and rings(including a +3 AC ammy with an awesome spell and properties), that nice dragon Kite shield, great armors for the upper body(much nicer than brestplate), and for all chars except ninja; the best kinds of ammo(mystic arrows and such), pots of Renewal, some of the nicest staffs eg Holy Basher. In other words, for chars at L10 or so, some of the very best items not only for their levs but even some of the nicest in the game. I know a lot of people knew this already, but for any who didn;t hope this helps. At the same time though, even though you can keep exlpoiting NPC's this way, it might be a better idea toi limit oneself a bit. I ended up limiting myself as my party has all it needs anyhow and I still want to find stuff off opponents that'll occasionally be surprising. Though it might be the case that some of the nice items found on some NPC's might only be able to be found on them. Not sure 100% but I think its likely the case.
