Greyhawk is the original AD&D setting. All the classic modules take place in this realm. I actually like it better than the Forgotten Realms game world. Unfortunately it came at a time when TSR didn't really publish novels, so it didn't get the kind of flavor all the newer worlds got. Greyhawk is where you will find Mordenkainen (way before Elminster was created),Bigby, Drawmij, Nystul, Otiluke, Rary, Tenser, Otto (the creators of the spells you use in all AD&D worlds).

It would be nice if they would create more series involving the Greyhawk setting. Right now you are seeing some novels created...Temple of Elemental Evil, Against the Giants and a few others. These are just stand alone books and I'm not sure what their quality is. I would like to see some extended series. The world itself is pretty much already done in great detail, but it would be up to WotC to promote it.

Just my 2.
