OK adventurers, help is needed by a little waif of a cleric who was trying to reach the market/city on level three before joining a party to explore further. At the risk of upsetting the wrath of the DM, level 1 and most of level 2 was going just fine until I tried to get a warding stone off a drow in the northwest area.

I have just been handed my ass 5 times in 15 mins (serves me right for being arrogant) One of the main problems is my abilities take a drop even though I am protected against level and ability drain.

Any advice (and bandages) is welcome

Is that Nessant and his cronies?

Personally, I'd avoid that confrontation if I had a low level character and run through to level 3 before going back to tackle it.

On lvl 3 you can find an armour that gives immunity to sneak attacks and helps solve one lvl 2 problem. As to the ability drop, there is some spell (anyone know what it is?) that lowers your abilities, particularly your attack bonus, whether or not you are protected against level and ability drain.

Potions of critical restoration or spell protection, again both available on level 3, are a great help.

Hope that's not a spoiler.

Just saw your other post about the bone golem.

Lvl 3 - Skullport - is neutral ground (mostly). You can run around the golem once you find the key and be safe.

Yes Greything Nessant is his name. I did not know that there was a spell that overturned protection against ability drain I will think about a plan to get round it.

Cheers everyone

Low-level and mid-level characters do poorly against Nessant unless you use hit and run tactics. As well, be sure to kill off all of his cronies before going up against Nessant himself. The shur is an annoying bugger, but not unbeatable (especially with a fighter or a wizard with the right spells). It is best to go against Nessant with a small party with you, however. If you see anyone with [ dmr ] or [ MZW ] in the name, feel free to ask for assistance. That will be me.

Thankyou guys, I just managed it. first off I worked out that I had the wrong amulet on and that was the reason for the ability drain! Second was spell resistance, I guess you can not have enough. Dont drink and dungeon crawl mmmmmkkkay kids

Cool, grats. Good luck on lvl 3, if you do any of the available quests there, and then it gets interesting.

Just watch out for the guys in southquarter. They can be nasty to low level dungeon crawlers
