The stuff will stay there. I can think of other houses with stashes, where it is much easier to hide stuff. Ex. the house in Beregost next to the Jovial Juggler (it is close to the border of the city, so it is easy to travel to and from).

I've heard rumors that things left in outdoors containers can vanish, but never seen it for myself. But indoor storage is much more plentiful than outdoor storage, so why would you leave your gear outside anyway?

When I'm choosing a place to stash my stuff, I think about:
 • Travel Time to & from the rest of the world (a central location is good)
 • Easy access to where you enter & leave the map area
 • Number of containers (I like to have 1 for scroll, 1 for gems, 1 for ammo, 1 for Potions, etc., etc.,)
 • And of course, don't dump your gear in a place you'll never be able to get back to.

Just a question to Six (and all the others)

How much stuff do you have hidden in stashes at the moment you win the final fight

Nothing. I tend to sell the things I don't need and keep some enhancing stuff (Strenghth potions, Oil of Speed, Potion of Invulnerability) in my INventory to chug them down before the final battle. The only things I sometimes stash in containers are no longer needed quest items I don't want to "lose" just to be safe.

I loaded one of the final save games of my first completed game, went into the house, where I kept all my stuff.

Whow endless rows of potions, spells, wands, ammo and magical equipment

In my current game, I have decided to NOT stash away anything. Both because I now know what can be used later and what you can sell now (In my first game I feared that magical equipment could break, like normal iron equipment). Also I now tend to use the potions I find one the next tough fight (I have installed the 'harder' patch, so now I need those potions ).

I will change my question:

How much equipment did you have stashed away after completing the game for the first time

Exclamation

I know this sounds stupid, but the first time through the game I stashed just about everything I could find; left over bandit scalps, wands, potions, rings, necklaces, spell scrolls and HOBGOBLIN studded leather armour (it was a way of keeping track of how many kills I had made, solely from hobgoblins). I also thought it could be an emergency cash source if I ran out of gold.

this is kinda but one time when i played bg2 ( i think the first time) i stashed 6 peoples worth of full inventory stuf in a bookcase in adventurers mart. I completely forgot about it and found it much later on in the game when i revisited AM. and there was some good wands and arrows etc in there. It was purely luck that i stumbled upon it all. I accidently clicked on the bookcase and found it all!

I never stash equipment, ammo, wands, etc. I just sell everything and buy it back if I find I need it later.
