Secrets of the Lost Liche
by Knarfling

Praying Zombies

Everyone knows that liches are deadly. Liches cause sickness, pain and death. What most people do not know is exactly how they do this. Many believe that it is through complex spells that a liche's effects are spread. Other people believe that a liche cannot help spreading disease any more than a tree can stop growing. They are all wrong.

Recently, overcome with curiosity, this report took it upon himself to discover the secrets of a liche. Believing that magic played a great part in a liche's power, I brought with me several cure potions, several restore health potions and armed myself with several scolls of Merlin's Shield. To my horror, these items proved almost useless in protecting me. As an afterthought, I brought along some ear plugs. The ear plugs were the only thing that saved my life.

How does a liche spread sickness, pain and death? In the Gael Serran, it is done simply by talking. That is all they have to do. After a few minutes of listening to him, you are already sick. The very sound of their voice causes you great pain. And if you are made to endure it too long, you seriously begin thinking of more pleasant ways to die, such as bamboo under the fingernails or being skinned alive.

As I entered the room to speak with G'Ezerred Ra, I cast a Merlin's Shield scroll and carried with me my potions of power. Part way through the interview I was violently sick. I checked my spells and found that I was still fortified. I quickly gulped a cure potion, only to find that it had no effect. A restore health potion made me feel better for a few moments, but as G'Ezerred Ra kept speaking, my health continued to fail. Realizing my plight, I quickly put in my ear plugs and made a mad dash for the door. The Liche's voice rose and I almost didn't make it out of the room.

I wandered in a daze through an underground maze and found two people undergoing a transformation from living person to zombie. I had discovered another secret of a liche. Most people believe that zombies are raised from the dead, but I saw proof that a person who listened to G'Ezerred Ra long enough could transform into a zombie. While most of my film was destroyed, I was able to salvage this shot of the two individuals in rapt attention to G'Ezerred Ra.

While one zombie was still lucid, he told me the secret of the zombie's ability to vomit on cue. All they needed to do was to remember some of G'Ezerred Ra's words and they could vomit at any time. After some difficulty, I was able to escape to tell the world of my tale. Little did I know that my ordeal was not yet over.

I decided to report my findings to Sebastio as he was the guild leader of wizards in Brimloch Roon. Before I could finish my tale, Sebastio started to speak. After only moments, the familiar sickening feeling returned. I felt the same feelings that I did while talking to G'Ezerred Ra! I confronted Sebastio with this information, but he quickly denied this and then began telling another story. Again, I barely made it out alive.

Since then, I have compared Sebastio with G'Ezerred Ra. G'Ezerred Ra talks forever, but you must listen to him in order to complete a quest. Sebastio talks forever, but you must listen to him to complete a quest. G'Ezerred Ra has imprisioned Mada Mabbig. Sebastio wants you to kill Mada Mabbig. G'Ezerred Ra gives you a quest that eventually gives you the Staff of Death. Sebastio gives you a quest that eventually forces you to use the Staff of Death.

G'Ezerred RaSebastio
Talks you to deathTalks you to death
Has imprisioned Mada MabbigWants you to kill Mada Mabbig
Gives you the Staff of DeathHas you use the Staff of Death

This brings up the obivous question. Sebastio: Long lost cousin of G'Ezerred
Ra...or Liche in Training? You decide.

Knarfling, it is SO funny!
All of us were sick because of Sebastio's speeches...
May I ask whether revieling Sebastio's true nature will broke your promise not to kill shopkeepers?
Thank you, Knarfling and Saz!

ROFL!!!!!

I just knew that there was something wicked about Sebastio! Now the mystery is solved. What we need now is the game mod to change Sebastio's endless detailing of the quest down to "Go kill Mada Mabbig" and be done with it! hehehehe
Now that would be REAL magic!

Wyv

(great issue!!!!!)

Your request will soon be answered. I have hacked the Quest Info. file to change the 26 middle sentences of the Mada Mabbig Quest to 1 or 2 chars each. It now takes about 30 seconds to get the quest. It has been tested and it works fine on the patched game.

email me if you'd like a copy. I'll put up instructions for changing the GMDATA.PAK file for the patched game this pm from home
