First off, WELCOME TO IRONWORKS!!! Come and be one of us, one of us, one of us.....
1) First off, I can't understand why you'd want it, or why you can't remember where you got it the first time, but ok.....in a map area about halfway between Beregost and the Gnoll Stronghold. On your "World Map," the map area looks hilly: No mountains or big trees (If I recall correctly). In about the middle of the map, bear witness to the shocking sight of a caravan waylaid by bandits. In the midst of the carnage lies your target. 2) The difficulty of that fight is more a matter of tactics than your party's level. You could take a really kickass group of 6 all the way up to the experience cap, give them all the best stuff in the game, and just send them in blindly--and they'll have their heads handed back to them on a silver platter. But you could take a low-level party there, with crappy equipment, and if they're very careful and watch what they're doing, they WILL prevail. Since you haven't beaten the game before, I would say that your Ranger should be at least Level 6 before going after Sarevok. One thing I will spoil you on for this battle: There are some Traps there that CANNOT be Disarmed, at all. Not only that, but even after you step on them, they continue to be active, and can nail you again. Watch yourself. 3) Between you and Kagain, you definitely have enough Tanks, so yes, I would toss Khalid. You do NOT need a second Mage: One is plenty. (In the first half of the game, I find that none is plenty.) What you lack is a Cleric: Jaheira's Druid spells are okay, but trust me, Druids suck compared to Clerics in BG1. (They're more equal in BG2.) You might also find the link in my sig rather informative. [ 02-13-2003, 05:28 PM: Message edited by: SixOfSpades ]

Minor spoiler... Sounds like you're in Chapter 3, as you've mentioned Xan. I suggest you clear out all the maps you can get to before thinking about characters. There are several NPCs on maps accessible in this chapter that might be good for your party. Major spoiler... . . . I agree with Six--you'd do well to have a cleric. There's an evil one in Peldvale, and a neutral one in the Nashkel carnival, and a good one in the Cloakwood mines. If your party is leaning towards evil, I suggest you backstab Khalid, get the evil cleric, switch out Jaheira for somebody in Cloakwood, and switch out Safana for somebody in Baldur's Gate. If your party is leaning towards good, there's one heckuva NPC waiting in Nashkel that can replace Kagain. In order to keep this NPC, you must go on a quest, but the rewards are well worth it. If you have this NPC in your party, you can pick up a mage that is IMO better than Xzar. Another spoiler about Sarevok: read at your own risk! . . . . . I had more trouble with Sarevok's minions than I had with Sarevok himself. So much for being who he is. Bleah. I also had a lot more trouble with the last big battle before meeting Sarevok. If you can get through that last big battle without losing a party member, you're more than ready to face Sarevok.

jahiera is nuetral, druids have to be and she's a fighter/druid. She proably should be nuetral good but game mechanics don't allow it
