casting frenzy and bloodlust on your main fighters helps alot to kill him. I also had about 5 differt storm spells htting him at the same time. Having wicked weapons and taking out his other tree friends makes it easier. Once all are gone it doesn't kill you as much and healing spells should keep you alive.
For killing him you get heaps of XP. LIKE 1,000,000 or something!. All characters get like a 5 level boost!. The only problem with this is you cant get the upgrades for guilds for all five levels gained

I hate to be a party to the killing, but if you must....attack him first, then lead him into the sea. Most if not all spells he casts woon't work there and you can whittle (pun intended) down at your leisure.

Mark

(If I can find it I'll bump up a thread about killing the "good" characters in the game.)

Yes, he has been killed and many say that it is a blessing for all Gael Serran given how annoying that little guy can be. That aside - you do not NEED to kill him to complete the guild quest. The guild quest is completed by finding his treasure chest and collecting a specific item there in. (this is found through the Temple of Isis/Anephas' Tomb)

Hey insomniacau, Check out the "Kill, Mame, Destroy" thread. Insight to the personalties of the people who play this game (perhaps). An interesting thread! And some comments about killing the living tree too.

Wyv, insomniacau seems to be talking about killing Oakmire. Some of us don't kill off the "good guys"! Wyvern is one of them and I am another. But, you feel free to do it your way. I just wish there was a consequence for breaking the oath we take at the beginning of the game.

yuck,
Mammawlin

Hehe, Insomniac, don't worry! No one can fault you for doing a "what if?" thingy. I think Mammawlin's main concern was for players who get their jollies by not only killing the good NPC's, but gloating over it and anticipating it (hehe hehe hehe).

We're all family here, so no slight was intended. I've learned that over the last week, believe me!

Game hard back at ya!

It seems to be so unfair to encourage the killing of good NPC - for the game designers, of course. I liked the Living tree very much (more than any another NPC in the game, the other pleasant person was Stout King I suppose).
So, I want to ask: What do you think must be real award for murder ot the Living tree (the only one in this world! Greenpeace, where are you?)? May be, some curse? Bad reputation? Stat loses? What is your opinion - what should it be - for justice?

Sincerely Yours,
Tanda

Tanda, sad to say, it comes down to the XP. I think on a 6-character party, you can go up 6-7 levels easily by slaying him.

Blame it on HPI for making it so tempting to be able to do such nefarious acts, without retribution (what was the Sacred Oath for, anyway?)
