I'm on lv 5 with my mage (me) and it says i can Dual-class (i'm suprisingly strong; 16) but should i? i really don;t want to but dual classing could be cool. but thats not my real question, my real Q is can i multi-class without using Shadowkeeper or Gatekeeper or whatever? Like when i Import to BGII, can i multi-then?

You can never multi-class a human, or dual a non-human for that matter.

Theres no real need to dual (Ive never done it, ever) ALthough done right you can build some very useful characters by dualing at the right level. TO determine that level, just remember that to get your old abilities back you have to exceed you old level, and get out the experience charts.

If you (mis-) use Gatekeeper "properly", you can have a multi-class human, though it isn't in the spirit of the game. Your choice would be unusual, in that it's better to dual from a fighter to a mage, that way you have more HP at the beginning, and some combat skills which you'll get back.

If you did it that way, you could get to level 5 with your fighter, and still make level 9 with your mage (if you have TotSC installed). Mind, that doesn't help you, 'cause you're a level 5 mage already!

Lord Brass is correct. In a sense, you have the cart before the horse now. Dualing to a fighter now would leave you with low hit points. Most would start out as a fighter, get good hp, and then dual to mage. So, IMHO, don't waste your time dualing at this point.
