when you get hit by some traps and continue taking 1 damage, is it due to acid damage? and if so how do you get rid of it or slow it down or do anything to combat it? one of my party got hit and despite taking every health potion and scroll and spell she still died whatever i did, if i travelled zones she died or if i rested she took 800 damage and died, thats stupid to take so much damage, and i had no way of healing it or stopping it, quite worrying for latter areas in the game if i lose people to acid like that, so anyway of stopping it apart from acid resistance?

It is usually acid, poison, or disease that causes the damage. There is very little you can do for acid except as you said, acid resistance scroll, and drink lots of healing potions until it wears off. I would even try to get to a temple, or cleric just in case you are running out of potions. Poison, and disease are not so bad because potions are plentiful. Some traps may also cause fire damage over time. You can tell the difference by the cloud colour surrounding the character when the damage is taken. Yellow for acid, orange for fire. Also don't forget to read the text below as to what type of damage it is. There are a few traps that shoot darts and will continue to do so as long as your character stands on them, so you can continuously take damage that way as well.

Where was this Grungi? I don't think I've ever seen that much damage before, and I wondered if this was a glitch?

I'm not sure (been a while since i last played) but is there bleeding damage in IWD ? If so this could be the problem aswell and iirc, the only way to combat bleeding damage is the heal spell or a lot of minor healing untill the bleeding is over.

go to dragons eye and on some of the floorboards on the lower floors, 3rd i think, theres some acid dart traps, i took about 3 damage when it hit, and thought fine, just won a tough fight so ill save, but whatever i tried i couldnt shake the damage, when i rested the console told me "thingy has died and taken (801) damage" ie it worked out over the 16 hours of resting that i took 1 point of damage every 5 seconds or so, something like that. I couldnt shake the effects any way i tried, so i had to use a costly raise dead, was not happy in BG you normally wait 5 minutes normal time or so and it wears off

Hmm instead of resting Grungi on the second level of Dragons eye is priestess who you could get to cast Heal on you. Hopefully that might work.

That is strange. I don't recall anything that did THAT much damage for such a long period unless it was poison or disease related. If it's poison, an antidote should clear it up UNLESS its somehow considered MAGICAL poison damage in which case a dispel magic should do the trick OR you drank a BOGUS antidote (there ARE some of those floating around in the game and they are indistinguishable from the real thing except that the description describes the liquid as cloudy). If it's disease, then a paladin's cure disease should stop it along with potions like philter of purification. Spells like Flame shroud and death (acid) fog can do a LOT of damage for a long time, but a dispel magic would get rid of those I believe - and drinking a ton of healing potions can at least delay the characters death until the spell effect wears off. I don't recall anything that did bleeding damage ala BG2 or IWD2.

You should be able to check your character record to find out exactly what is happening (in terms of spell effects) and every time you take damage it should tell you exactly what type of damage you are taking. Resting while the effect is still in place will NOT necessarily cause the effect to wear off if it's poison or disease related as those usually require direct intervention to remove them, unlike spells which usually have finite duration.

Where exactly did you get hit by this trap????

Grungi is not insane people. I am pretty sure I stepped on the same trap at some point. Kept taking damage all the way back to Kundahar, used all my healing potions, and spells to make it to the temple.

The reason why we normally don't set off the trap is because we usually disarm them before stepping on them but I am pretty sure the trap does exist.

You don't remember where the trap was do you????

I don't doubt that the trap exists, but the description is a little sketchy to go on.
