Phandalyn

I was resting in this inn in Baldurs Gate(the inn on the map where the Flaming Fist Barracks are)and I rested royaly and when i woke up a guy named Phandalyn came up to me and said something about I am evil(I have a like 14 rep.) and that I would do Baldurs Gate damage and so he attacked me but when he attacked he didn't turn hostile; when I went to fight back he turned hostile along with everyone else in the inn and my reputation went to shreds. Is this some sort of bug or has this happened to someone else? I re-loaded it and got the same results.

Phandalyn is a paladin

If you have commited any 'evil' acts, he may attack you.

Just find another inn - he won't leave the one he is staying in.

What kind of evil? a quest or something like killing the wrong person, because just before I had gone in there i had just broke into a mages house and killed him. The one with the ring of wizardry

Do you have any evil characters in your party? ISTR reading somewhere that he attacks if you have Viconia or one of the other evils.
