I'm considering playing a character who will start as some Fighter kit (either Berserker or Wizard Slayer) and dual-class to Thief. To have an easier time at this, I'm looking for quests that can be tackled early on without the use of a Thief.

TIA

Are you playing solo?

Circus Tent, I'm fairly sure De' Arnise keep can be done without a thief. Same with Umar Hills. As far as I can tell, very few quests literally "require" a thief. Most give you a key, of sorts.

AFAIK, nothing absolutly requires a theif. The game has been soloed by just about every class.

The only things a theif is generally needed for are opening locks and disarming traps. Your fighter should be strong enough to bash most locks and have enough hit points to shrug off most traps.

Not really. Even with the belt and STR 19, it is still the equivalent of thief skill 50. You can increase it with Draw Upon Holy Might if you have it as special bhaalspawn ability, but still it would make it at most equivalent of thief skill 65. It might be enough to open chests with minor treasures which you won't need anyway but not enough to open any chests with the really good stuff. And I don't recommend wasting potions of cloud or storm giant strenght just to open a chest. Your best bet is to make note of unopened chests and come back to them once you have a thief.

That said there aren't any quests that need a thief. You should have no problem doing any quests with your fighter. Your biggest problem might be when you dual class and become a level 1 thief. You might consider leaving some quests finished but without collecting XP reward so you can do so with your thief. This might also be another good reason to leave chests unopened so you open them with thief and collect xp. Or disarm traps.

what ZFR said - but also to add druid grove and planar prison* to what others have said as pretty trap and lock free

also temple sewers if you don't mind crashing a few traps

* avoid the prison if you're getting close to your dual point though - it's tricky to finish with a level 1 thief

Thanks a lot guys!

I'm not soloing, I'm playing a Wizard Slayer OR a Berserker > Thief in a party of Jaheira, Anomen, and Kelsey.

I'm considering doing an easy quest solo though, just to get a headstart.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the entirety of Chapters 4 & 5. I can think of one section with notable traps/locks, and you are expressly given a clear warning of them, which means that even a Level 1 Thief can down a couple of Potions and clear the lot, without even breaking roleplay.

Yeah, there are a couple of other traps & locks there, but they're few and far between, and in places that you can always get back to later on. Moreover, I always try to Dual-class people at some point where it makes a lot of sense in the roleplay--and I can think of no better time to do this than the "Transformation and the Dream" sequence.

I once dualled a Berserker into a Cleric right after that dream. There's no better time in the whole series to start prayin'!!!
